Commenting on the weather forecast for Ho Chi Minh City in the new week, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the Southwest monsoon in the Southern region is gradually becoming stronger. Therefore, from now until the end of May, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region will continue to have widespread thunderstorms with increasing frequency.
“Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Beware of heavy rain causing localized flooding,” said the Southern Hydrometeorological Station.

Meanwhile, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also forecasts that this evening and tonight (May 20), the Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15 - 30mm, in some places over 70mm.
Thunderstorms in the Southern region are likely to continue for many days to come (rain will be concentrated in the afternoon and evening). Beware of heavy rain in a short period of time causing flooding in urban areas. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
