Improving knowledge about marriage and family for ethnic minorities

BAC NINH - From October 18 to 21, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Bac Ninh province organized 12 conferences to propagate, mobilize, prevent and reduce the situation of early marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in two communes, An Lac and Nam Duong. This is an activity within sub-project 2 of project 9 of the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas by 2025.

The conference was attended by more than 800 delegates including Party cell secretaries, village heads and deputy heads; heads of mass organizations, prestigious people and a large number of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

At the conference, reporters from the Department of Justice and the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions conveyed contents related to legal policies on marriage and family, children's rights; consequences of early marriage and incestuous marriage. The propaganda sessions focused on raising public awareness, contributing to changing behavior, eliminating backward customs, and building cultural life in ethnic minority areas.

This activity contributes to achieving the goal of minimizing child marriage and consanguineous marriage; promoting gender equality, protecting children's rights, and improving the quality of the population, creating momentum for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province.
