At Chu Van An Secondary School, Thuan Chau Commune, nearly 500 students and 25 teachers had a meaningful extracurricular session on safe and economical use of electricity. Instead of dry theoretical lectures, the program was designed with skits about the current state of electricity use in families, and a knowledge contest to answer questions through the golden bell game, helping students both learn and play. Nguyen Hoang Minh Anh, class 9A1, excitedly shared: Through the program, I understand how to use electricity safely such as not touching exposed wires, turning off the power when there are signs of short circuit and saving electricity effectively. I will remember and practice this knowledge every day, reminding family members to do the same.
Currently, the offices of staff, teachers and classrooms in the school are fully equipped with fans, lighting, projectors, televisions and other electrical devices, which consume a large amount of electricity. Therefore, the school is very interested in educating students on basic knowledge about safe and economical use of electricity.
In addition to safety content, the propaganda program also helps students clearly understand the harmful effects of wasting electricity with actions such as: turning on lights during the day, leaving devices on standby mode, using air conditioners incorrectly, etc. These seemingly small behaviors, but if common in the community, will put great pressure on the electrical system and the environment. Just a simple action such as turning off the switch when leaving the room or using energy-saving devices can also save electricity significantly.
Mr. Do Van Buong, Principal of Chu Van An Secondary School, said: The school always focuses on comprehensive education for students. Through this program, it has helped students gain awareness about energy sources as well as electrical safety. In addition, it also helps students be aware of saving electricity from an early age, forming good habits.

Not only stopping at Chu Van An Secondary School, the propaganda program on economical electricity use has also been widely deployed in many other schools in Son La province. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 4,000 cadres, teachers and students at primary and secondary schools in Van Ho, Muong La, Thuan Chau communes... have participated in these useful extracurricular activities.
Mr. Dao Van Quang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, affirmed: We aim to promote energy saving for students not only to let them know about saving energy sources, but more importantly to form long-term habits. They understand that using electricity properly helps save costs for their families, contributes to protecting the environment and will become the ones to impart knowledge to their families and the community to practice saving electricity.
Along with the propaganda sessions, the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion in collaboration with the Electricity Management Team of Thuan Chau - Quynh Nhai area also issued thousands of handbooks, hand fans, and leaflets on energy saving, helping students and teachers grasp the principles of safe electricity use, accident prevention and handling of electrical-related incidents.
Children are an effective communication bridge in every family. A student who understands electrical safety can be the one to remind parents to check wires and repair damaged equipment. A student who is conscious of saving electricity can help the whole family change wasteful electricity habits. With thousands of students participating in the program each year, these good habits are gradually spreading, contributing to building a community that uses electricity more safely and efficiently.
Using electricity safely and economically is not only a lesson in school but also an important skill throughout the life of each student. When each student is aware of this, the action will spread from school to family, from family to society, creating a community responsible for resources and the environment.
