Universities and colleges in Dong Nai province have been actively improving their training capacity and coordinating with businesses to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills, ready to take advantage of this vast job opportunity.
4 thousand direct jobs and thousands of “outside” opportunities
On August 23, the Long Thanh Airport Job Fair took place for the first time, with a recruitment demand of up to 4,000 jobs. This is only the direct recruitment demand of enterprises in the aviation sector.
It is worth mentioning that this job demand ranges from positions requiring university or college degrees to general labor such as: loading and unloading, driving, cleaning staff... Aviation companies affirm: Every year, the demand for new recruitment will remain high, accompanied by additional training for workers to meet the standards prescribed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
According to Ms. Le Thi Hoang Oanh, Deputy General Director of Saigon Ground Services Joint Stock Company (SAGS), the company has a need to recruit passenger service staff, including many foreign passengers. Therefore, workers need to have soft skills and good English skills to bring satisfaction to passengers. In addition, workers need to have technology skills.
Similarly, Ms. Pham Hong Hanh, representative of Tan Son Nhat Airport Services Joint Stock Company (SASCO), said: The company recruits many positions that only require high school graduation, but the "hard criteria" is English proficiency, with a minimum TOEIC score of 450. However, the certificate is basic, workers need to improve communication skills to be able to communicate with customers. In addition, candidates need to exercise to meet the physical criteria.
If the demand for human resources working directly at Long Thanh Airport is already very large, the "outer ring" of the airport opens up even wider doors of opportunity. The area surrounding Long Thanh Airport will form huge service ecosystems: logistics, warehouses, restaurants - hotels, commercial centers, conferences - exhibitions, finance - banking, especially free trade zones... All of which require a diverse workforce, from technicians, business administrators to service staff, chefs, drivers...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Hang, Director of the Vietnam Aviation Academy, shared: “Human resources for non-aviation services will need a larger number than the aviation industry human resources that we are considering”. This opens up vast job opportunities for high school, college and university students right at home.
Close cooperation between schools and aviation businesses is needed.
Dong Nai currently has 6 universities and 12 colleges. In the period 2021-2023, on average, universities will enroll 6,500 new students each year and have about 4,500 graduates. These schools train 53 occupations, including 19 aviation-related occupations. For colleges, in the same period, on average, colleges will enroll about 12,000 new students each year and have about 7,000 graduates. Colleges train 80 occupations, including 54 aviation-related occupations.
However, if graduates from these universities and colleges are recruited by aviation companies, after the preliminary round, the companies must provide additional training in specialized content of specific job positions according to regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, then the workers will be qualified to work at Long Thanh Airport.
Despite significant training capacity, representatives of aviation companies and schools all acknowledge that there are still gaps that need to be filled in order for human resources to best meet job requirements. Therefore, close cooperation is the “key” to improving training quality and shortening retraining time at the company.
To proactively improve the capacity and foreign language proficiency of workers, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee LE TRUONG SON assigned the Department of Education and Training in October 2025 to propose to the Provincial People's Committee a specialized policy that is superior to current regulations to improve foreign language proficiency for students. If necessary, propose to develop a project and resolution to submit to the Provincial People's Council.
Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Luu Hoang Minh said: Schools need to provide additional training in communication skills, soft skills and English early on to shorten the gap and retraining time at enterprises. This requires career guidance to be carried out from the first year and training orientation must be provided from the beginning. In the long term, enterprises need to place orders so that schools can train according to demand.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Lan, Vice Principal of Lac Hong University (Tran Bien Ward), hopes that the school can sign MOUs (memorandums of understanding) on human resource needs and supply, connect and orient students early on to provide training that is suitable for reality.
According to Mr. Huynh Le Tuan Dung, Principal of Dong Nai Technical College, there needs to be support for students who have met the job entry standards so that they can receive further training.
The Department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province is being assigned to draft and collect opinions for the Draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on human resource training policy to serve Long Thanh Airport in the period of 2026-2030.
With careful preparation from schools, cooperation from businesses and support policies from the government, Dong Nai students are facing a great opportunity to become a part of Long Thanh Airport, contributing to the development of the province and the country.
