Promoting the exemplary role of elderly party members

Party members set a shining example.

During the recent floods, the people of Tuyen Quang and other northern provinces suffered immense pain and loss. Moved by the plight of many families severely affected, numerous charitable groups have reached out to the flood-stricken areas, joining hands with local authorities to mitigate the consequences. The family of Party member Nguyen Trung Hieu in Hamlet 16, Trung Mon Commune (Yen Son District), near Tan Trao University, decided to offer free accommodation and meals to groups visiting Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang . Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu stated that his family owns a spacious stilt house of over 240 square meters with many spare rooms, and he wants to welcome groups there. The stilt house can accommodate more than a dozen people, and there is also a guesthouse nearby, so if the group is larger, he will cover the cost of renting additional rooms to ensure their comfort. He also volunteered to guide groups to areas where people suffered heavy losses and are still facing hardship in the province. His view is that he is ready to help as much as he can, joining hands to help the people in the flood-affected areas alleviate their difficulties.

Not only Mr. Hieu, but many elderly Party members in the province have demonstrated exemplary spirit and mutual support by actively participating in activities to prevent, combat, and mitigate the consequences of storms and floods. Party members have intensified efforts to raise awareness about the storm situation, helped families and communities clean up streets, and contributed to the Central Relief Campaign Committee…

With the exemplary and leading spirit of a Party member, many cadres and Party members, even after completing their work and retiring, continue to actively participate in building the Party and government at the local level, forming the core of emulation movements and activities in their residential areas. Many retired cadres and Party members are trusted by Party members and the people to be elected as secretaries, deputy secretaries of Party branches, heads of residential groups or neighborhoods, or heads of associations, heads of the Fatherland Front Committee, and active "nucleus" in their localities…

In Group 17, Tan Quang Ward (Tuyen Quang City), everyone knows the exemplary Party member Nguyen Kim Duc, who recently received the 50-year Party membership badge. During Party branch meetings, he consistently offers insightful suggestions that contribute to the effective implementation of resolutions in various aspects of life. Together with the collective leadership of the Group 17 Party branch, he has successfully carried out tasks, leading to a continuous improvement in the lives of the people.

Comrade Lai Cao Khai, after retiring from Tuyen Quang Newspaper, settled in Bac Trung residential area, Son Duong town. After more than two years of transferring his Party membership from the agency to the residential area's Party branch, he has been highly regarded by Party members and residents for his enthusiasm and responsibility in all his work. He was trusted and elected as the Party Branch Secretary and Head of the Front Committee. In his new role, Comrade Khai has united and led Party members and residents to promote economic development. To date, 100% of households in the area have built solid houses, and the area is a model in the town for implementing a civilized lifestyle and actively participating in environmental protection and the prevention of plastic waste.

Not only actively participating in local activities, many clubs and professional associations have organized vibrant and meaningful activities for their members, including retired officials and Party members. Notable examples include the Provincial Association of Retired Teachers, with over 6,700 members who are retired teachers and former employees of the Education sector; and the Tan Trao Club, with over 400 members who are retired leaders. Their activities are always full of solidarity and innovation, contributing significantly to the overall development of the province, such as strengthening the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations to all levels of the population, and actively contributing opinions to the building of the Party and government at all levels.

Retired party members have even stronger resolve.

To enhance the important role of cadres and Party members, Party branches have implemented many solutions to strengthen the role and responsibility of each retired Party member in local tasks. Comrade Dao Xuan Tien, Secretary of the Party Branch and head of Group 17, Tan Quang Ward, said that the branch has a total of 44 active Party members, of which over 95% are retired Party members. From the moment they received retired Party members transferring to the branch, they organized briefings on Party regulations and assigned specific tasks so that Party members could understand their position and role, and unite with the collective to successfully implement the branch's resolutions.

In residential areas and neighborhoods, the image of retired officials and Party members actively participating with the people in building new rural areas, cleaning and protecting the environment, planting more trees, and actively participating in social work, cultural and artistic activities in the locality... has helped retired Party members live healthy and useful lives.

Comrade Vu Dinh Thuan, Deputy Head of the Organization Department of the Tuyen Quang City Party Committee, said that improving the quality of Party branch meetings according to Project No. 16, in conjunction with the implementation of Resolution No. 4 of the Central Committee and Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo, has created profound changes in the thinking and awareness of cadres and Party members in Tuyen Quang city, and the quality of Party branch meetings has gradually improved. The assignment of cadres and civil servants from the City Party Committee to attend Party branch meetings in various units and residential areas has helped to promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of Party members and the people, as well as emerging issues at the grassroots level. This has enabled them to promptly propose solutions, contributing to enhancing the leadership capacity and fighting strength of grassroots Party organizations.
