New Zealand's Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Tredene Dobson, shared that the F&B sector is a particularly successful story in the trade relationship between New Zealand and Vietnam, accounting for a large portion of export turnover. F&B products exported from New Zealand to Vietnam in 2022 totaled NZ$798 million.
The 2023 "Made With Care" retail campaign aims to expand the brand value of New Zealand's outstanding, delicious, and healthy food and beverage products in the Vietnamese market. Simultaneously, the event will further promote cooperation between New Zealand and Vietnamese partners in this sector.
New Zealand offers a diverse range of delicious, nutritious, safe, and sustainable products that are popular throughout Vietnam. Specifically, apples and kiwis are among New Zealand's largest exports to the Vietnamese market, with total export value exceeding NZD 183.98 million (equivalent to VND 2.6 trillion) in 2022, and are also key products featured in the "Made With Care" retail campaign in 2023.
At the event, the business community, retailers, and guests had the opportunity to learn about and raise awareness of food and beverage products from New Zealand – a country considered one of the world's leading food producers.
In addition, representatives from NZTE and several leading Vietnamese retailers signed a memorandum of cooperation, marking an important milestone in facilitating the exchange of expertise and supporting the New Zealand company's access to the Vietnamese market.
According to Ms. Giang Nguyen, CEO of NZTE Vietnam, the company's commitment stems from understanding that Vietnamese consumers choose to buy fruit based on trust in local retailers. Therefore, as part of its commitment to the Vietnamese market, NZTE Vietnam promotes cooperation with local retailers to bring high-quality products to Vietnamese consumers.
The 2023 "Made With Care" retail campaign is also expected to contribute to strengthening the robust bilateral trade relationship between New Zealand and Vietnam, opening up opportunities for future collaborations and partnerships. This event also provides a platform for many brands and companies from New Zealand to introduce their products to Vietnamese businesses and retailers.
Through this, the business communities of both sides will foster long-term relationships in the supply chain, such as between producers and distributors, while creating opportunities for New Zealand brands to bring high-quality fruit to Vietnamese consumers.
Specifically, with the "Made With Care" retail campaign in 2023, Vietnamese consumers can visit Aeon Mall, Central Retail, LOTTE Mart, and WinMart retail outlets in Ho Chi Minh City this June and July to shop for and experience imported products from New Zealand.
Also at the event, the New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, on behalf of the New Zealand Consulate and 10 New Zealand companies, presented a charitable donation to four non- governmental charities based in Vietnam. This is the third consecutive year that New Zealand businesses have carried out this fruit donation project, bringing 7 tons of fruit and nearly 1,000 liters of milk to children and the elderly in Vietnam.
