Demand goes hand in hand with quality.

With only one day left until the deadline for registering for university admissions in 2024, Nguyen My (from Ha Tinh province) still doesn't know which major to choose as her first choice.

My shared: "I like the finance and banking industry, but I'm afraid there will be job saturation in the future. Many people say this industry already has an oversupply of manpower, and technology and artificial intelligence will replace humans. Therefore, I'm afraid I won't be able to find a job after graduation. Meanwhile, the marketing industry is 'hot,' but I don't really like it that much."

This is also a concern for many students and parents in the context of an increasingly volatile economy .

Sharing his views on this matter, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Hoang, an expert in training in the field of finance and banking, emphasized that students and parents can rest assured about career opportunities in the finance and banking sector.

He explained: "The flow of money in the economy is like the blood flowing through the human body. Therefore, all parties must ensure that the flow of money is always stable and growing. That's why job opportunities in the finance and banking sector are always abundant."

Associate Professor Hoang believes that it is crucial for students in this field to develop comprehensive skills and accumulate knowledge professionally so that upon graduation, they can be sought after and trusted by employers for recruitment.

"With the knowledge and skills, you don't have to worry about the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) causing you to lose your job," Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Hoang emphasized.

Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Director of the Center for Admissions and Business Relations, University of Finance - Marketing, shared that the demand for human resources in this field remains high.

Every year, the University of Finance and Marketing continues to receive connections from many banks and businesses in training and recruiting students.

Every year, businesses offer numerous incentives to encourage students to participate in graduation internship programs, job fairs, and other similar events.

"Businesses in the banking and finance sector are still posting many job openings, but the requirements are becoming increasingly stringent. Recruiting units need high-quality human resources with a solid understanding of knowledge, skills, and technology to apply to the industry."

"Businesses also encourage educational institutions to train students who can start working immediately without needing further training," Ms. Kim Phụng emphasized.

Besides the finance and banking sector, Ms. Phung also pointed out the growing interest in interdisciplinary training in financial technology.

The deputy head of the admissions office revealed that, in the early admissions methods, the number of candidates registering for the finance major has not decreased and remains the same as in previous years.

Training students in practical skills.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hao, Director of Agribank Branch 3, Ho Chi Minh City, said that banking units are very interested in and supportive of training facilities that provide students with practical learning and hands-on experience during their university studies.

In particular, some universities have built banking and securities simulation centers where students can intern and experience the operations of a real bank, working as professional employees.

To help students access career opportunities, since 2019, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking has collaborated with businesses to launch the Banking 4.0 practice room. This simulates a real-world working environment, providing students with valuable experiences.

Here, students will be guided by instructors and practice the necessary skills of a real bank employee, thereby gaining an overview of the work they will do in the future.

Van Lang University recently inaugurated a banking and securities practice center.

Associate Professor Tran Thi My Dieu, Rector of Van Lang University, emphasized that businesses will prioritize recruiting students with experience and expertise, who can start working immediately without needing time for on-the-job training.

"Students experience banking processes from transaction processing to risk analysis, honing their problem-solving and teamwork skills in realistic simulated scenarios."

"This not only enhances students' knowledge and practical skills but also builds their confidence before entering the job market after graduation," Ms. My Dieu emphasized.

The female principal noted that major changes in technology, applications, and trends will have a significant impact on workforce demand. Therefore, the challenge for higher education institutions is how to meet these new and more specific requirements compared to the basic requirements of the past.

She pointed out that it's about the ability to apply technology and adapt to constant change. Students need to understand that they will be able to do tasks that machines cannot replace.

To achieve this, students need an environment where they can regularly intern, practice, gain experience, learn from experience, and apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
