(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications said that following the firework-related accident during the recent Tet holiday, the public hopes the authorities will reconsider allowing fireworks displays. Netizens also reported on the problem of littering on New Year's Eve.

Speaking at the conference summarizing the organization and care for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon on the morning of February 20th, Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Information and Communications (DIC) of Ho Chi Minh City, provided information on issues of concern to the public and the media during this period.

Regarding security and order, fire and explosion incidents continue to occur in the area. Public opinion is also concerned about the serious crime that occurred in Thu Duc City.

"This information has received many comments. Public opinion wants the authorities to reconsider allowing fireworks displays. Many households set off fireworks, making it difficult to distinguish between smuggled fireworks and those from the Ministry of National Defense , thus hindering law enforcement from carrying out their duties," Mr. Lam Dinh Thang shared.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper on the sidelines of the event, Mr. Lam Dinh Thang analyzed that people have not yet raised objections to allowing the firing of fireworks that are licensed. However, many opinions suggest that the authorities need to reconsider because, in reality, many types of unlicensed and illegally produced fireworks are still sold on the market, making it difficult for many people to distinguish them.

The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications also stated that the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon saw many extended commercial, cultural, and artistic activities in the locality, such as online shopping livestreams, book streets, flower streets, food streets, and new tourist destinations.
