Ho Chi Minh City residents have more options to register for initial health insurance at two major hospitals.

Ho Chi Minh City residents can register for primary health insurance examination and treatment at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - two medical facilities with specialized capacity, making primary health care more convenient.

According to the announcement of the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance (HSI), the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Traditional Medicine officially accepts initial health insurance (HI) medical examination and treatment registration for a number of groups.

The hospital operates from Monday to Saturday (morning 7:00 - 11:30, afternoon 13:00 - 16:30) and Sunday mornings, with advanced technical level.

Notably, patients over 75 years old only need to bring their ID card to the health insurance agent to register.

In addition, people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, psoriasis, etc. are given the opportunity to register at this hospital for convenient long-term treatment monitoring.

Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital also started accepting initial health insurance registrations.

Eligible applicants include civil servants, employees, students and postgraduate students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The expansion of the initial health insurance registration facilities at two hospitals with specialized capacity is expected to help people access high-quality medical services right from the front line and improve the effectiveness of primary health care for the community.

According to the provisions of Article 26 of the Law on Health Insurance 2024, health insurance participants have the right to register for initial health insurance examination and treatment at primary or basic health insurance examination and treatment facilities; have the right to change initial health insurance examination and treatment facilities within the first 15 days of each quarter (ie January, April, July, October).

According to Article 26 of the 2024 Law on Health Insurance and the guidance in Circular 01 dated January 1, 2025 of the Ministry of Health , when there is a need to change the place of registration for health insurance examination and treatment, people can submit their application directly to the Social Insurance agency where they reside, or submit it online via the Vietnam Social Insurance Public Service Portal.

For employees, register through the employer.
