Recently, the hot weather in Ho Chi Minh City has continued, forcing many people to find ways to avoid it while commuting to school or work. Many people feel relieved to find free, readily available cold water dispensers along the streets amidst such sweltering conditions.
According to Tuoi Tre Online , along the central streets of the city from District 1, District 3... to District 10 and Thu Duc City, many places are equipped with free ice water dispensers to provide water for people day and night.
Specifically, on streets such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Phung Khac Khoan (District 1), Thanh Thai (District 10), Kha Van Can, Pham Van Dong (Thu Duc City)..., various types of ice water dispensers and many pre-cleaned drinking glasses are available for people to use.
At around 12 noon, Ms. Thanh (55 years old) poured freshly brewed tea into the free water dispenser in front of the church on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1.
"For over a year now, the people around here have been taking turns doing this job. From morning till night, we never let the water container run empty. People passing by stop to use the water, and we're very happy," she shared.
The iced tea dispenser placed in front of the Mac Ty Nho church on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1, makes everyone passing by feel happy and stop to "cool off." Not only is the iced tea refreshing, but the free iced water dispenser is also shaded by a trellis of cool green pumpkin vines.
Mr. Tran Quoc Bao (45 years old, a ride-hailing motorbike driver) said he often stops by to drink water, and for convenience, he carries a thermos flask to keep extra water on hand to avoid thirst while working.
Similarly, Ms. Trang Nguyen (42 years old, residing in Thu Duc) enthusiastically prepared a thoughtful gift for herself and a refreshing treat for passersby by placing a pitcher of iced green tea in front of her house.
Ms. Trang said that every day she personally brews green tea, puts ice in a neatly arranged ice cooler in front of her house to serve everyone during the current peak heatwave.
Here are some pictures of water coolers placed along the roadsides in Ho Chi Minh City:
Mr. Thien stopped to refill his water bottle before heading off to pick up passengers. "Occasionally, if I'm driving nearby at lunchtime, I always stop to get water. In this hot weather, these free bottles of cold water are very precious," he said.
The roadside water dispensers have received support from many people, especially laborers and ride-hailing drivers.
