In recent days, a video clip showing traffic police officers using a special vehicle to take a young girl suffering from seizures to the hospital has been widely shared on social media.
"My family would like to express our gratitude for the enthusiastic service of the traffic police officers at the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway. My child had a fever, convulsions, and lost consciousness, and thanks to the officers, he received timely emergency treatment," a person posted on a traffic safety forum.
According to Tuoi Tre Online's investigation, the woman in the video is Ms. Hoa. Approximately two days prior, while traveling from Phu Tho to Hanoi, Ms. Hoa discovered her 2-year-old daughter had a high fever and suffered convulsions after falling asleep.
The five-seater car sped along the highway. The mother was anxious, feeling "unsure what to do" while on the highway.
Upon reaching the Km6 toll station (Soc Son, Hanoi ), they saw traffic police officers on duty, so they pulled over and asked for help.
Upon hearing the family's report that the child was turning blue and showing signs of respiratory distress, Lieutenant Pham Quoc Viet – an officer of the Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 of the Traffic Police Department – quickly reported to his superiors and then used a special vehicle to take Ms. Hoa and her child to the nearest hospital.
In the police car, the mother continuously talked to her daughter to keep her awake. She said that the child had previously fallen once, which resulted in seizures. Initially, she was quite panicked, but she calmed herself down to take care of her child.
"We turned on our hazard lights, used loudspeakers to request that the emergency vehicle yield, and tried to find the nearest medical station," Lieutenant Viet recounted.
After 10 minutes, the vehicle stopped at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases (Dong Anh district, Hanoi), where the child received timely emergency treatment and is now out of danger. The child gradually regained consciousness.
"After two hours at the hospital, the family took the child to the National Children's Hospital for a more thorough check-up, and the child's health is now stable," Ms. Hoa said.
By the afternoon of December 30th, representatives of the family had come to the headquarters of Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 to express their gratitude to Lieutenant Viet and his colleagues.
