(NLDO)- Vietnam Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Taiwan (China) to rescue a Vietnamese passenger.

On December 27, flight VN307 from Tokyo (Narita, Japan) to Ho Chi Minh City by Boeing 787 made an emergency landing at Taoyuan Airport (Taipei, Taiwan, China) to rescue a passenger in need of medical assistance.

After the plane took off and flew for more than 2 hours, VTV passenger sitting in seat 24G (32 years old, Vietnamese nationality) had health problems (suspected low blood pressure, cold hands and feet). The crew called for support from a nurse on the flight and assessed that VTV passenger needed immediate emergency care, otherwise his life would be in danger.

The crew immediately notified and communicated directly with Vietnam Airlines' operations center via the in-flight communication system and decided to land at the nearest airport, Taoyuan Airport, at 1:27 p.m. on December 27 (local time) to provide emergency care and ensure the health and safety of VTV passengers.

As soon as the flight landed at the airport, the Vietnam Airlines branch in Taiwan prepared an ambulance and took the passenger to the hospital as quickly as possible.

The passenger is now showing signs of improvement and is being tested at the hospital. The airline representative is in regular contact to inquire about the passenger’s health status and continue to assist the passenger when necessary.

After the passenger was taken to the emergency room, flight VN307 continued its journey to Ho Chi Minh City, landing 3 hours and 10 minutes later than planned.

According to a representative of Vietnam Airlines, emergency landing to ensure the safety of passengers is urgent, requiring careful consideration and timely decisions from the crew as well as the airline. Although, navigating a flight for an emergency landing always consumes a lot of resources and costs for rescheduling flights, refueling, ground services, etc., the safety and health of passengers is always the top priority of Vietnam Airlines. Previously, the airline has repeatedly delayed flights or made emergency landings in cases where passengers have serious health problems and need timely assistance.
