The first smart factory in Vietnam operates a private 5G network provided by Viettel

In the first phase of cooperation with Pegatron, Viettel provides 5G private networks for 5 applications and is expected to provide 5G private networks for thousands of devices at the Hai Phong electronic equipment and component manufacturing factory by the end of 2023.

On July 20, the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) announced the successful testing of the 5G Private Mobile Network (5G PMN) service for the Pegatron factory in Hai Phong . This is the first smart factory in Vietnam to be automated based on the connection of 5G mobile service with the advantages of high speed, low latency, and support for multiple connections.

In the first phase of cooperation with Pegatron, Viettel provides 5G private networks for 5 applications and is expected to provide 5G private networks for thousands of devices at the Hai Phong electronic equipment and component manufacturing factory by the end of 2023. This includes the application of augmented reality technology for video calls on Public Cloud (public cloud computing); applications for production lines (Assembly Station); product testing management; monitoring and direct production processes... Viettel 5G PMN will help Pegatron reduce costs, increase productivity, increase profits, and at the same time be able to control processes well by collecting detailed information and data in real time, improving the working environment, reducing work accidents...

5G PMN is a rapidly growing development trend in the world, especially effective for businesses with factories, warehouses, ports, airports, etc., which require secure and reliable connectivity that wifi cannot meet. In Vietnam, the system of industrial parks, seaports, airports, and logistics centers is present in most provinces and economic zones across the country. The application of 5G PMN is expected to strongly promote the development of the economy in general and the fields of production, mining, and logistics in particular, etc.

The successful testing of 5G mobile network service exclusively for Pegatron factory in Hai Phong affirms that Vietnam is accompanying the world in the most advanced technology trends. Speaking at the event, Mr. Dao Xuan Vu, Deputy General Director of Viettel Group emphasized: “Viettel pursues the philosophy: technology is born to solve social problems and improve the quality of life. Pioneering in deploying technical testing and commercial testing of 5G in Vietnam, Viettel has so far covered 5G in 58/63 provinces and cities. Viettel plays a key role in building a safe, strong and reliable connection infrastructure as the foundation for a dynamic and competitive digital service ecosystem and creating a digital society.”

On Pegatron's side, Mr. CY Feng, General Director of Pegatron's division, shared: "The application of 5G PMN to the production line is a new trend in the world. 5G PMN is a private mobile network that provides mobile connectivity services to organizations and individuals who need to use specialized devices or machines that need real-time connectivity. This is a new trend in the world with an expected annual growth rate (CAGR) of 51.2% from 2023 to 2030. With the development of industry 4.0, private 5G networks play an important role in promoting development in many fields such as: Manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, transportation, mining, smart cities, etc.
