In the first phase of its collaboration with Pegatron, Viettel provided a 5G private network for five applications and plans to provide a 5G private network for thousands of devices at the Hai Phong electronics component and equipment manufacturing plant by the end of 2023. These applications include augmented reality technology for video calls on the Public Cloud; assembly station applications; product testing management; and monitoring and direct production processes. Viettel's 5G PMN will help Pegatron reduce costs, increase productivity and profits, while also enabling better control over processes through real-time data collection, improving the working environment, and reducing workplace accidents.
Deputy General Director of Viettel Group, Dao Xuan Vu, speaks at the event. |
5G PMN is a rapidly developing trend worldwide, particularly effective for businesses with factories, warehouses, ports, airports, etc., which require secure and reliable connectivity that Wi-Fi cannot provide. In Vietnam, with industrial parks, seaports, airports, and logistics centers present in almost all provinces and economic zones nationwide, the application of 5G PMN is expected to strongly boost the development of the economy in general and the manufacturing, mining, and logistics sectors in particular.
The successful trial of a dedicated 5G mobile network service for the Pegatron factory in Hai Phong affirms Vietnam's commitment to keeping pace with the world in the most advanced technological trends. Speaking at the event, Mr. Dao Xuan Vu, Deputy General Director of Viettel Group, emphasized: “Viettel pursues the philosophy that technology is created to solve social problems and improve the quality of life. Pioneering the technical and commercial trials of 5G in Vietnam, Viettel has now achieved 5G coverage in 58 out of 63 provinces and cities. Viettel plays a leading role in building a safe, robust, and reliable connectivity infrastructure, which is the foundation for a dynamic and competitive digital service ecosystem and the creation of a digital society.”
Mr. CY Feng, General Manager of Pegatron's division, spoke at the event. |
On Pegatron's side, Mr. CY Feng, General Manager of Pegatron's division, shared: "The application of 5G PMN in production lines is a new global trend. Pegatron is pioneering the introduction of this technology into production lines in Vietnam with the desire to improve factory efficiency and move towards a modern and professional process. Viettel is a strategic partner of Pegatron, and we have confidence in the technology that Viettel can provide for smart factories."
Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong speaks at the event. |
Speaking at the event, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City, highly appreciated Viettel's efforts in applying modern technology to modernize cities. Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong stated that the first smart factory in Hai Phong City, utilizing Vietnam's own 5G network, is a testament to Viettel's continuous efforts to fulfill its commitment to partnering with us in digital transformation, building smart cities, and promoting urban modernization. This success will boost the development of other sectors with 5G technology, opening up a bright future for Hai Phong's economy.
5G PMN is a private mobile network that provides mobile connectivity services to organizations and individuals who need to use specialized devices or machinery requiring real-time connectivity. This is a new global trend with an expected annual growth rate (CAGR) of 51.2% from 2023 to 2030. With the development of Industry 4.0, 5G private networks play a crucial role in promoting development in many fields such as manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, transportation, mining, smart cities, etc.
