According to the Mainichi newspaper, in October, Japan's Ministry of Health , Labor and Welfare will implement a plan to upgrade Japan's pension service system, aiming to collect data on foreigners living in the country.

These efforts are reportedly aimed at ensuring that all foreign residents in Japan pay insurance premiums and receive social security benefits.
If a foreign resident has not yet registered in the system, the Ministry will send a letter requesting them to register. Then, if there is no response, the Ministry will have the authority to register that person's information in the system.
All individuals aged 20 to 59 residing in Japan must register for the country's pension system, regardless of nationality. Upon registration, they will be eligible to receive a pension starting at age 65.
Starting in April 2024, the contribution to the national pension will be 16,980 yen per month (approximately 2.7 million VND).
According to the Immigration Services Agency, as of the end of December 2023, there were 3.4 million foreigners living in Japan, a 10.9% increase from the previous year.
