Japanese media highly appreciate and acknowledge Vietnam's growing position on the international stage.
The Asahi Shinbun, Japan's largest newspaper, published an article today, July 3rd, with the headline "US and Vietnam reach agreement on tariff negotiations."
According to the article, during the summit phone call between Vietnam's top leader, General Secretary To Lam , and US President Donald Trump, the two sides reached an agreement on the issue of US tariffs.
Asahi also reported that immediately after the phone call, President Trump posted on his personal social media account, stating that he "had signed a trade agreement with Vietnam and that both sides had agreed to reduce tariffs for each other."
According to Asahi, Vietnam is the second country in the world , after the UK, and the first in Asia to reach a trade agreement with the US. This demonstrates the strategic importance Washington places on its relationship with Hanoi in the context of the Trump administration's new trade policies.

Widespread media attention in Japan
In addition, other Japanese news agencies such as Jiji Press, Sankei newspaper, Hiroshima Home Television, ANN, and Nihon Television also extensively covered the Vietnam-US summit and its positive outcome.
The special attention given to this agreement by the Japanese media reflects the geopolitical importance of the event, especially as Asian countries seek to adjust their trade relations with the United States.
Japanese public opinion views this as the result of a shrewd and effective negotiation strategy and tactics, and as proof of Vietnam's steadily rising position in US policy in particular, and on the international stage in general.
This agreement not only has significant economic implications for Vietnam but also demonstrates the flexible diplomatic skills of Vietnamese leaders in maintaining and developing relations with major partners.
Becoming the first Asian country to reach an agreement with the US demonstrates that Vietnam is successfully positioning itself in the region and the world.
This success also opens up positive prospects for other areas of cooperation between Vietnam and the US, and affirms the favorable investment and business environment that Vietnam is creating to attract international investors.
