The Embassy of Uruguay in Vietnam will organize an art project with the theme "Creative encounters" within the framework of activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (August 11, 1993 - August 11, 2023).
The highlight of the "Creative Encounters" from September 5-7 and September 28 will be the participation of famous Uruguayan visual artist - Yandi Monardo. He will interact with the Vietnamese public to create artworks donated to various organizations in Hanoi .
With over 28 years of artistic practice in Mexico, Mr. Yandi Monardo is currently based in Cabo San Lucas BCS, where he has his studio and art gallery. He has been constantly contributing to the development of artistic,educational and cultural projects with a lasting commitment to the Los Cabos community. In addition, he has opened art spaces for local and international artists, emerging and established.
Currently, he is collaborating with Yana Aguirre, Director of the Los Cabos Art Gallery, on the cultural project “Art for the World” which has been developed over the past 20 years in various locations.
The project traveled across several countries, visiting educational centers and indigenous communities in Latin America (Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay and Paraguay) and museums and universities in the United States, Sweden, Germany and Spain.
In September, with the support of the Embassy of Uruguay, the project will travel to Hanoi, where artist Yandi Monardo will hold workshops on visual arts at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, and the Institute of American Studies. The project will conclude with an exhibition of more than 40 works at the University of Fine Arts.
During his stay in Hanoi, artist Yandi Monardo will create large-scale works, which will then be presented to the units coordinating the project, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Uruguay diplomatic relations.
