Surprise and joy were the feelings of petite female student Nguyen Thi Van Anh when she received the news that she won second prize in Literature at the High School Olympic Exam of Hanoi National University.
“This year, the number of candidates taking the Literature exam was 289 people. I am very happy because I achieved a high score. This achievement is the result of my own efforts, the dedicated teaching of teachers, and the companionship, encouragement and support of family and friends. This will be a stepping stone for me to strive and strive even more in the future,” the female student expressed.

It is known that Van Anh was born and raised in a family with parents working as accountants, no one in the family studied or worked in a field related to Literature. Her love for Literature was nurtured and grew when she was in 10th grade, inspired by her literature teacher. From then on, many plans and goals were ignited in her. The more she learned about Literature, "devoted" to "words", the more Van Anh wanted to accompany this subject for a long time.
Van Anh confided: “Each subject has its own value, in which the advantage of Literature is the emotional element. Instead of approaching students with dry theories and concepts, Literature comes to students in a gentle and pleasant way. Literature allows us to experience the flavors of life, valuable lessons help each person look back at themselves, from there have better thoughts and actions.”

Van Anh said that to study this subject well, the most important thing is to create inspiration, keep the passion burning, read many books and documents and focus on listening to lectures from teachers in class. The female student always maintains the habit of reading books and reading selectively. After each reading session, she often writes down her thoughts, comments and opinions to remember and understand the issues more deeply.
In particular, in the digital age, in addition to the knowledge and skills learned in class and in life, Van Anh regularly accesses the internet to update herself with current news, economics , culture - society... "I often watch programs such as: "Decent deeds", "24h Movement", "Road to Olympia"... then memorize the names of interesting characters and events to cite in my essay. In addition, I also regularly refer to Literature knowledge from online Fanpages such as: Learning literature with Ms. Hien, nurturing excellent students in literature, specialized literature documents... to accumulate more knowledge.

Thanks to a systematic study plan, after more than a year of studying at Phan Dinh Phung High School, the female student from Thanh Sen ward has had outstanding academic achievements: Second prize in Literature in the High School Olympic Exam, first prize in the province in Literature for grade 10, Literature score ranked first in the class, etc. Moreover, she is also an active, confident female student, actively participating in school and class activities.
Talking about her journey to winning second prize in Literature at the Hanoi National University High School Olympiad, Van Anh admitted that she felt quite comfortable when entering the exam room. “Before starting the test, I spent 15 minutes thinking about the direction of my writing and making a rough outline for both the social argument and literary argument sections on a piece of scrap paper. This way, I could develop my ideas in a coherent and complete manner for each section. To improve my writing, I expanded on evidence, cited famous quotes, and made appropriate comments interspersed with the analysis process,” the female student shared.

Proud of her daughter's achievements, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Kinh said: "My husband and I are both busy with our professional work and do not have much time to support our child in studying, but Van Anh is a hard-working and independent girl, so her parents completely trust and respect her choices. Her achievements today are a precious gift, worthy of the trust that her teachers and parents have given her."
Commenting on the female student, Ms. Ngo Thi Loan - Van Anh's homeroom teacher and Literature teacher affirmed: "Van Anh is a very intelligent student, with a different and unique way of thinking. She also has a strong determination, knows how to plan and carry out the plan step by step. Van Anh's essays often have very impressive highlights, and importantly, she has accumulated life experience, from her own experiences, so her essays are always lively and authentic."

Not only is she good at Literature, she also studies all subjects equally, especially Math and Foreign Language. After completing the Literature Olympiad at high school level, she immediately returned to her daily study routine to supplement her knowledge in other subjects, and at the same time, build a review plan to conquer the provincial Literature exam for 11th grade students held in early January next year.
Sharing about choosing a major in the future, Van Anh said that she is currently considering choosing between pedagogy and law. But no matter which major she decides to choose, she will try to promote what she has achieved to continue to conquer higher goals.
