NDO - Six winners of the 2nd International Russian Language Olympiad for Vietnamese students and trainees in 2024 (three from specialized high schools and three from universities) will receive scholarships to participate in the "Summer Language Internship Program" at the AX Pushkin National Institute of Russian Language (Moscow, Russian Federation).
On November 13th, the awards ceremony for the 2nd International Russian Language Olympiad for Vietnamese students and trainees in 2024 took place in Hanoi. The competition was organized by the Pushkin Institute, under the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training , and the State-funded Higher Education Institution "AX Pushkin National Institute of Russian Language," with support from the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Language Olympiad aims to further promote the Russian language in Vietnam; to encourage and motivate Vietnamese students to learn Russian and study in the Russian Federation.

In his welcoming remarks to the Olympic participants, Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, emphasized that the Russian language is an effective way to build relationships between countries, especially in the context of diplomatic relations between Russia and Vietnam.
He emphasized that the number of contestants registering for this year's Russian Language Olympiad (740) is almost double that of last year (440). This reflects the growing demand for learning Russian and understanding Russian culture in Vietnam. He stated that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation is ready to promote the development of cooperation in the field of education between the two countries.
Congratulating the Pushkin Institute on successfully organizing the Olympiad, and the students who won the competition and had the opportunity to experience Russia, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, expressed her gratitude to the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education for investing funds to organize the Russian Language Olympiad for Vietnamese students.
This year, the competition started in September 2024. 740 students from Vietnamese educational institutions registered to participate in the qualifying round, including 394 students from 11 specialized high schools, 346 students from 6 specialized universities and 5 non-specialized universities nationwide. 80 students were selected for the final round, which took place live at the branch campus on November 11th and 12th.
Six winning contestants will receive free scholarships to participate in the "Summer Language Internship Program" at the AX Pushkin National Institute of Russian Language. For high school students, the winners are Bui Minh Anh (Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong); Tran Gia Khanh (High School for the Gifted, University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi); and Pham Thanh Long (Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Nam Dinh). For university students, the winners are Dinh Ngoc Lan (University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi); Hoang Anh Quan (Le Quy Don University of Technology); and Duong Nguyen Thi Minh Thu (University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City).
Bui Minh Anh, a 12th-grade student specializing in Russian at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted in Hai Duong, emotionally shared that when the organizers called her name, she felt overwhelmed, because this year there were so many talented students participating in the Olympiad. When she entered the competition, she told herself she had to try her best and make a great effort to compete with her peers.
Immediately after hearing her name announced as the first prize winner, Minh Anh envisioned her trip to Russia the following year. She said she would visit her favorite places she had learned about from books, lectures from her teachers, and videos, and then return to tell her friends about her exciting experiences in Moscow. Thanking the organizers for holding the Russian Language Olympiad, which opened up opportunities for students to go to Russia and experience it firsthand, Minh Anh hopes that after this trip she will have the chance to study economics at a university in Moscow.

Earlier in the awards ceremony, Elena Bezdetko, Honorary Judge of the Olympic Finals and wife of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, gave a presentation on traditional Russian attire. She emphasized that the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam is always committed to promoting the Russian language and culture in Vietnam, and that today's event was an opportunity for her to introduce her country's traditional clothing to Vietnamese friends.
During the ceremony, the organizing committee awarded certificates to Vietnamese Russian language scholars who participated in the advanced training course "Applying modern teaching technologies to different stages of teaching Russian as a foreign language," which ran from June to the end of August 2024.
Previously, within the framework of the Olympic Finals, the Organizing Committee also held a seminar for Southeast Asian Russian linguists, with the participation of Russian linguists from Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mohd Ali Johar Bin Mohd Denny, Russian language lecturer and founder of the Russian-Borneo Research Center in Malaysia, thanked the Federal Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam for supporting the seminar for Southeast Asian Russian language scholars, and thanked the Pushkin Institute for creating a wonderful opportunity for teachers and lecturers from Southeast Asia to exchange experiences in teaching Russian.
