"The call-up of 133,000 Russian citizens aged 18-30 for military service who are not in the reserve and are subject to military service from October 1 to December 31," the decree stated.

The decree also ordered the discharge of soldiers who had served their full term of military service as prescribed.

Previously, Mr. Putin ordered to increase the size of the Russian armed forces by 180,000 people, bringing the total to 2.39 million personnel, of which the number of active military personnel reached 1.5 million. This is the third decree signed by Mr. Putin since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.

However, according to British intelligence, Mr. Putin's plan to increase the army by 180,000 troops is facing significant challenges due to the Russian army's losses in the Ukraine battlefield and recruitment problems.

"The term of military service under the conscription regime will not change and will be 12 months, and the transfer of military personnel from the conscription office is planned from October 15," said Vladimir Tsymlyansky, an official of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

“All conscripts will be sent to the permanent deployment points of military units on the territory of Russia,” he added. About a third of the recruits will be placed in training units and military units.
