On August 25, TASS reported that the Russian Embassy in France is immediately taking steps to clarify the situation surrounding the founder and CEO of the Telegram messaging app, Pavel Durov, following reports of his arrest in France.

Citing a representative of the Russian Embassy in France, the news agency reported that the diplomatic mission has not received any complaints from Durov's team, but they are proactively taking steps "immediately".
Meanwhile, according to TF1 TV , Paris could charge Durov with crimes related to terrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking, and child pornography.
Earlier, TF1 TV and BFM TV, citing anonymous sources, reported that Pavel Durov was arrested at Bourget Airport on the outskirts of Paris on the evening of August 24 (local time).
According to TF1 TV , Mr. Durov was arrested while traveling on a private plane at approximately 8 PM on August 24th (1 AM on August 25th Vietnam time), en route from Azerbaijan. His arrest was for the purpose of a preliminary police investigation.
Both media outlets reported that the investigation focused on the lack of moderation on Telegram, and police believe this situation created opportunities for criminal activity to occur unchecked on the messaging app.
Telegram, based in Dubai, was founded by Durov, a Russian national. The businessman left Russia in 2014 after refusing to comply with demands to close opposition community pages on the VK social media platform, which he had sold.
