This is one of the activities in response to the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024, organized by the Hanoi People's Committee. In her opening remarks at the event, Pham Thi My Hoa, Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union, said: "The ao dai has long been a cultural symbol, a symbol of the elegance, modesty, and gentleness of Vietnamese women. Despite the changing times and the development of society, the ao dai has always maintained a firm place in the hearts of every Vietnamese person."

In the modern era, as the country integrates internationally, the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) retains its traditional beauty while simultaneously being modernized and adapted to suit global fashion trends. The ao dai not only appears at traditional festivals but has also become a favorite attire for women at international events, contributing to the promotion of Vietnamese culture to the world.

The Hanoi Ao Dai Month 2024 is an opportunity to honor the role of women in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. We can see that women are not only the keepers of the family flame, but also active contributors to the development of society."

"During this year's Hanoi Ao Dai Month, we call on all officials, civil servants, employees working in agencies and units under the Hanoi city government and businesses; and students in the city to wear the ao dai on Mondays and Fridays every week; and encourage officials, members, and women to wear the ao dai in commemorative activities, programs, and important events of their units. This will be a practical action for us to together preserve, promote, and spread the value of the traditional ao dai," emphasized the Vice President of the Hanoi City Women's Union.

On this occasion, the Hanoi City Women's Union and sponsoring organizations awarded 50 scholarships and 50 sets of traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) to female high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds in the city.

As part of the program, the Hanoi City Women's Union, in collaboration with the Vietnam Women's Museum and the Vietnamese Village Club, organized a seminar entitled "Traditional Ao Dai - Cultural Value, Preservation and Development in the Contemporary Context".
