On December 10th, in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized a scientific seminar entitled "New Factors of the Market Economy and International Integration Affecting the Work of Gathering and Promoting the Strength of National Unity and the Role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Implementing the Market Economy in Vietnam."

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Van Pha, a member of the Presidium and former Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, emphasized that the new social context has posed many challenges to building national unity, such as: the effectiveness of promoting the strength of national unity in some areas and fields has not been high, failing to unleash and develop the enormous potential of the people; some policies are not yet practical and difficult to implement; the lives of the people, especially in ethnic minority areas, mountainous regions, and remote areas, still face many difficulties, and the gap between rich and poor and regional disparities remains large.

Furthermore, innovating the content and methods of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political and social organizations, and enhancing the role and effectiveness of mass organizations, requires many solutions to suit the current reality.

"To continue building and strengthening the great national unity, promoting the power of the spirit of unity in the new era, and affirming the important role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the cause of national unity in building and defending the Fatherland, one of the requirements facing the Vietnam Fatherland Front is to expand research and summarize theoretical and practical issues on unity and national solidarity," Dr. Nguyen Van Pha stated.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Nhat, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, former Director of the Institute of History, stated that in the current period, social classes and strata such as the working class, farmers, intellectuals, and businesspeople have been established, but there are also constant changes in numbers and shifts in structure within each stratum, as well as in interaction with other classes and strata.

Therefore, he argued that a different perspective on social stratification is needed in the context of today's market economy and international integration. That perspective is that society consists of two parts: firstly, "Workers," which includes factory workers, farmers, and intellectuals; and secondly, "Business Owners," which includes state-owned enterprises, collective enterprises, and private enterprises.

In the current context, Dr. Nguyen Van Than, Member of the Presidium, Member of the Economic Advisory Council of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and President of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, assesses that the Vietnamese business community holds an important position and role, being one of the core forces contributing to promoting the industrialization and modernization of the country and international integration. Resolution 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo has identified "the private economy as the most important driving force of the national economy."

Therefore, the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front as a bridge and partner with entrepreneurs and the business community is extremely important in the new period. In particular, the Front needs to inspire and promote the entrepreneurial spirit throughout society and honor entrepreneurs with outstanding achievements.

"Entrepreneurial spirit is one of the essential conditions for economic development. Today, the development of a nation depends on the daring, adventurous, and entrepreneurial spirit of its business community. The future of the country is closely linked to its competitiveness and innovation. Therefore, timely encouragement and support from the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front for entrepreneurs and businesses is an immense source of motivation for each 'soldier' on the economic front," suggested Dr. Nguyen Van Than.

To enhance the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the current market economy and international integration, Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thanh Hoang, Head of the Science Management Board, Academy of Finance, believes that it is necessary to further concretize and improve the effectiveness of regulations on social supervision and criticism, especially the right of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to access information in key economic sectors such as the state budget, public investment, land management, resources, environment, implementation of PPP projects, and national target programs.

In response to the opinions expressed, Dr. Nguyen Van Pha emphasized that the delegates' speeches would be invaluable and insightful materials for the Vietnam Fatherland Front to study and implement the task of building the National Unity Strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

He also expressed his hope that the delegates attending would continue to pay attention to, support, and coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front in carrying out the Front's political tasks in the current period, which presents many new demands.
