Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dang Minh Thong: Bringing environmentally friendly products to Con Dao special economic zone

On October 24th, Comrade Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Standing Member of the Ho Chi Minh City Steering Committee for the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, along with a delegation, visited and worked at Quang Trung Software Park (QTSC) and surveyed scientific , technological, and innovation activities in the city.

The delegation visited the QTSC Digital Technology Center; The Sentry Co-working Space (a space supporting innovative startups) at the Orbital 2.0 building; the Innovation Center of Tuong Minh Software Solutions Co., Ltd. (TMA Solutions); and the SOIHUB Open Innovation Center, and held discussions with startups.

At the SOIHUB Open Innovation Center, a representative from a startup introduced a biodegradable plastic product that naturally decomposes in the environment, using technology to convert biological waste and plant-based materials into plastic.

The products are used in flexible packaging, rigid packaging, medical applications, and serve customers in the most demanding markets (EU, North America, Asia). The solution helps address the problem of greenhouse gas emissions from discarded biological waste by recycling and returning waste to the circular economy .

Assessing this product as being in line with the green and circular economy development orientation in the Con Dao Special Economic Zone, Comrade Dang Minh Thong suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology and other relevant departments and agencies research and coordinate the distribution of the product in Con Dao, contributing to reducing plastic waste and protecting the marine and island environment.

Earlier, during a meeting with QTSC's leadership, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dang Minh Thong commended QTSC's efforts in maintaining its leading position in Ho Chi Minh City's IT ecosystem. He expressed his hope that QTSC would continue to leverage its infrastructure advantages, expand international cooperation, and accelerate key projects such as the Data Center and the Intelligent Operations Center, aiming to become the leading digital technology group in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee also noted that the unit should continue to coordinate with departments and agencies to advise on solutions for economic development associated with digital transformation, green transformation, carbon credits, and aiming towards the Net Zero goal...

On the same day, the delegation surveyed the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation and Startup Support Center (SIHUB) – a unit under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, which incubates hundreds of startup projects each year, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City into a creative city and a leading startup center in the region.
