Thaibinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company operates in the fields of plant breeding, food trading, and commercial services, and is one of the leading enterprises in Vietnam's plant breeding industry. Over the years, the company has successfully researched many new rice varieties with superior characteristics, which have been recognized and put into mass production in many provinces and cities. To date, the company has 33 plant varieties granted protection certificates, and 28 varieties of rice, peanuts, corn, vegetables, and soybeans recognized as national varieties; applying many new technologies such as molecular biotechnology and gene editing to select and create plant varieties with superior characteristics, meeting 20% of the national rice seed market share.
Thaibinh Seed has established a production system consisting of cooperatives with 80 production sites nationwide, covering a total linked area of 8,000 hectares per year. Each year, they supply farmers with 30,000 tons of seeds, raw materials, and food crops. Many farmers linked with Thaibinh Seed in rice seed production earn over 100 million VND/hectare/year, generating an income of 50-60 billion VND per year for the affiliated units.
In applying science and technology to plant breeding research, Thaibinh Seed focuses on four main directions: breeding high-quality rice varieties suitable for sustainable farming with climate change resistance, improving nutritional value and rice quality, and applying biotechnology and molecular markers in breeding. For the 2025 crop season at the Institute of Crop Research, Thaibinh Seed will maintain, crossbreed, and test nearly 4,000 rice material lines and rice varieties, 400 corn and other crop varieties in the autumn-winter season, and in the fourth quarter of 2025, four new rice varieties will be approved for circulation...
During a direct visit to the research and production testing area for plant varieties, the scientific and technological research area of the Institute of Plant Research in Bac Dong Hung commune, and the rice seed cultivation fields in Phu Duc commune, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hung Nam acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Thaibinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company in overcoming difficulties and becoming one of the leading enterprises in the Vietnamese plant seed industry. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that Thaibinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company in general, and the Institute of Crop Research in particular, should focus on development, innovation, and creativity, promoting the application of science and technology, and continue to maintain their position as one of the leading units in researching and developing crop varieties in Vietnam. In the coming time, Thaibinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company should research and survey favorable locations, expand its rice and other agricultural product processing facilities, and continue to promote the "four-party" linkage in agricultural production to improve farmers' income. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to reassess the ecological zones in the province as a basis for planning large-scale, efficient, and sustainable specialized production areas.
