On the afternoon of August 26, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Governor Omura Hideaki of Aichi Province (Japan), who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son welcomed Governor Omura Hideaki's 6th visit to Vietnam; expressing confidence that the visit would contribute to strongly promoting friendly cooperation between Aichi province and Vietnam, and contribute to the overall development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at noting the qualitative progress made in Vietnam-Japan relations in recent times, with a notable milestone being the upgrading of the bilateral relationship framework to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
At the same time, they emphasized that the achievements of the bilateral relationship over the past 50 years serve as a solid foundation, source of inspiration, and driving force for the two countries to continue developing their bilateral relationship in an increasingly deeper and more substantive way.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that during his recent official visit to Japan, he co-chaired the 13th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee with the Japanese Foreign Minister, discussing many substantive issues aimed at concretizing the new framework of relations between the two countries.
Highly appreciating the cooperation between Aichi province and Vietnamese ministries, departments, and localities, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation between localities of the two countries, considering it a pillar in the overall relationship between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated and thanked the efforts of the Governor and the Aichi provincial government in creating favorable conditions for nearly 60,000 Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in the province.
At the same time, it was suggested that in the future, the Aichi Provincial Government and Governor Omura Hideaki continue to pay attention to promoting delegation exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, and strengthening substantive and effective cooperation with ministries, sectors, and localities of Vietnam in various flexible forms.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also requested Aichi province to continue paying attention to and promoting more investment by businesses in Vietnam, especially in areas where the province has strengths such as automobile manufacturing, railways, aviation, and high-tech agriculture; affirming that the Vietnamese Government is striving to improve institutions and reform administration to create favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to invest and do business successfully in Vietnam.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that Aichi Prefecture expand its acceptance of Vietnamese interns and workers, contributing to the province's socio-economic development and helping Vietnam train high-quality human resources to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his hope that Aichi Prefecture would support and facilitate Vietnamese airlines in increasing flight frequencies and opening new routes to Aichi Prefecture, contributing to promoting trade, investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges between the prefecture and localities in Vietnam.

Aichi Governor Omura Hideaki congratulated Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on his election as Deputy Prime Minister by the National Assembly, expressing his pleasure at being the first international guest to be received by the Deputy Prime Minister.
Regarding cooperation with Vietnam, Governor Omura Hideaki stated that Aichi Prefecture has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on promoting investment with the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam; and a Memorandum of Understanding on friendly cooperation with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
During his visit to Vietnam, Mr. Omura Hideaki worked with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and airlines such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet to discuss opportunities for cooperation between Aichi Prefecture and Vietnam in the fields of transportation and investment.
According to Governor Omura Hideaki, there are currently about 200 businesses based in Aichi Prefecture investing in Vietnam, ranking first among Japanese prefectures with businesses investing in Vietnam.
Aichi Prefecture is also home to approximately 60,000 Vietnamese people, making it the prefecture with the largest Vietnamese community in Japan, followed by Tokyo with around 54,000 people.
Aichi Governor Omura Hideaki expressed his hope that the Vietnamese government would consider opening a consulate general in Nagoya and encourage airlines to increase flight frequencies and open new routes to Aichi Prefecture.
