Meanwhile, 77 communes and wards in the west of the province (the old area of Gia Lai) will flexibly let students take a day off depending on the actual storm situation.
The Gia Lai Department of Education and Training has asked school principals to closely monitor weather developments and instruct students, teachers and parents not to move to dangerous areas; and to reinforce classrooms and schools to allow authorities to use schools as evacuation sites when necessary.

According to the forecast of Gia Lai Province's Hydrometeorological Station, from the evening of November 6, storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) will begin to directly affect the province, causing strong winds and heavy rain over a wide area.
Specifically, the coastal area in the east of the province is expected to have winds gradually increasing to level 6 - 7, then increasing to level 8 - 9, the area near the storm's eye will have strong winds of level 10 - 12, gusting to level 14 - 15. The west of Gia Lai province will also be affected with strong winds of level 6 - 7, the area near the storm's eye will have strong winds of level 8, gusting to level 10.
From November 6 to 7, the whole province is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 200 - 400 mm/period, in some places exceeding 600 mm/period. From November 8, heavy rain tends to gradually decrease.
In addition, due to the influence of the wide storm circulation, the Gia Lai area is likely to experience strong thunderstorms, tornadoes and violent gusts of wind both before and during the storm's landfall.
