Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always deeply remember the special solidarity and wholehearted support that Cuba has given Vietnam throughout history, from the struggle for independence to the cause of national construction and defense today.

During his visit and work in Cuba, on the afternoon of December 2 (local time), at the Revolution Palace in the capital city of Havana, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung had a meeting with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu to the Cuban leaders.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always deeply remember the special solidarity and wholehearted support that Cuba has given Vietnam throughout history, from the struggle for independence to the cause of national construction and defense today.

Emphasizing that Vietnam always pays attention to, closely follows and deeply shares the difficulties that the Cuban people are facing, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban people will continue to overcome all challenges and protect the achievements of the revolution.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of solidarity and support for Cuba and called for an end to the policy of blockade and embargo against the brotherly country.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung shared with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez information on Vietnam's socio-economic development situation and the results of the 13th National Congress as well as preparations for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Warmly welcoming Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung to visit Cuba on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez emphasized that the visit is a vivid symbol of special affection and a great source of encouragement for Cuba's revolutionary cause.

Appreciating Vietnam's outstanding achievements and position in the international arena, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez expressed his emotion at Vietnam's sentiments and practical support, such as the donation of funds mobilized from the "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship" program and the groundbreaking of the Solar Power Plant Project in Mayabenque province - a gift from the Party, Government and people of Vietnam to the Cuban people.

At the meeting, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung agreed on the need to further promote political trust and strategic coordination, maintain high-level delegation exchanges, and strengthen coordination and mutual support at international forums, especially the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. Both sides shared the stance of supporting the settlement of international disputes by peaceful means on the basis of respect for international law.

*Previously, also on December 2, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung held talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba Óscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga. At the talks, the two sides discussed specific measures to implement priority cooperation programs and projects, improve the efficiency and scale of cooperation in all fields in accordance with the strengths of each country.

The two Deputy Prime Ministers agreed to continue to closely coordinate in implementing the agreements reached, supporting Vietnamese enterprises to effectively invest in Cuba, promoting the role of the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism and stepping up trade promotion.

In the field of agriculture, the two sides emphasized the need to increase support projects for Cuba in agriculture and fisheries, contributing to ensuring food security, with priority given to rice production projects. Immediately after the talks, the two leaders witnessed the handover ceremony of the Minutes of the first meeting of the Joint Committee for the Implementation of the Vietnam-Cuba Trade Agreement.

On December 2, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and his delegation carried out many meaningful activities: offering flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument; offering flowers and visiting the Memorial of Cuban National Hero José Martí; and visiting the Fidel Castro Cruz Center. At these locations, the Deputy Prime Minister wrote touching lines of remembrance, reviewing the history of ties, honoring the special friendship that the leaders and people of the two countries have worked hard to cultivate, and expressing his belief that the Vietnam-Cuba relationship will continue to be strengthened and developed sustainably and eternally.
