On the morning of August 23, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received the delegation of the Komeito Party of Japan, led by its Chairman, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo, who is on a visit and working trip to Vietnam.
President Vo Van Thuong expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Chairman of the Komeito Party of Japan to Vietnam, coinciding with the two countries' celebrations of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973-2023). He also expressed confidence that the visit would make a significant contribution to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Chairman of the Komeito Party of Japan, Yamaguchi Natsuo, thanked President Vo Van Thuong for taking the time to meet him and extended his condolences to the Vietnamese Government on the passing of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
Sharing his feelings about returning to Vietnam after more than 30 years since 1991, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo congratulated Vietnam on its extremely strong and impressive development, especially in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. He expressed his joy at the great achievements in Vietnam-Japan cooperation after 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing that visits by high-level leaders of both countries are very important in promoting and developing friendship and cooperative relations, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo expressed his hope that both sides would continue to maintain high-level exchanges and strengthen comprehensive cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
Chairman of the Komeito Party suggested that the two countries strengthen cooperation in human resource development, especially given that there are approximately 500,000 Vietnamese working and studying in Japan, and more than 1,000 Japanese businesses are investing and operating in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo shared his pleasure at witnessing many important infrastructure development projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City being undertaken through cooperation, investment, and construction by Japanese partners.
President Vo Van Thuong thanked Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo for sending condolences to the Vietnamese Government on the passing of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
The President emphasized that the Vietnam-Japan relationship is developing increasingly substantively and effectively in all fields. The two countries have a high level of political trust after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations. This is a solid foundation for shaping the relationship between the two countries in the next 50 years.
Expressing delight at the excellent cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Komeito Party of Japan, the President highly appreciated the role of the Komeito Party in the process of building and developing Japan's socio-economic development and in efforts to promote bilateral cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.
The President suggested that both sides strengthen exchanges of high-level delegations, as this is also a fine tradition between the two countries. Vietnam encourages the exchange of delegations and promotes cooperation at all levels and localities, thereby contributing to the bilateral relationship.

Stating that Vietnam wishes to promote more people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, the President suggested strengthening exchanges between Vietnamese and Japanese youth, thereby creating a foundation for maintaining and promoting cooperation between the two countries in the future.
The President thanked the Government and people of Japan for their continued attention and support in creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese workers, trainees, and students to work, study, and contribute to Japan's socio-economic development and foster friendly relations.
Highly appreciating the effectiveness of cooperation in economic, trade, and investment fields, the President stated that the achievements in Vietnam's socio-economic development have been significantly contributed to by numerous cooperation programs and projects of Japanese businesses and investors. The Vietnamese people are grateful for these important contributions and hope that both sides will continue to expand cooperation for mutual benefit.
In the context of the current complex developments in the region and the world, the President suggested that the two countries coordinate more closely and continue to support each other in international forums, for the common peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
The President expressed his hope that the Komeito Party, chaired by Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo, would continue to receive the support of the Japanese people, contribute even more to Japan's socio-economic development, and further promote increasingly better and more effective cooperative relations with Vietnam in the future.
