On the afternoon of December 11th, Vietnamese MMA held three finals in the combat category. In the second final, fighter Quang Van Minh faced Tan Yee Siang in the modern 65kg weight class.
With his powerful, fast, and proactive fighting style, Quang Van Minh quickly overwhelmed Tan Yee Siang. Van Minh swiftly took his opponent down, pinning Tan to the floor.
Quang Van Minh used his body weight to pin Tan Yee Siang down. The Malaysian fighter had no way to escape the "underdog" position and continuously received punches to the face.
However, Tan Yee Siang was very resilient, striving to maintain her stamina and breathing rhythm. As soon as Van Minh ran out of breath, Tan would quickly brace herself with her feet to gain momentum and escape her opponent's grip.
However, Tan's patient endurance did not yield positive results. Van Minh held his ground and scored points consistently thanks to his proactive approach. Victory was firmly in the hands of Vietnamese MMA.
After the match ended, the Vietnamese MMA coaching staff were overjoyed because the game was so one-sided. Vietnam's first gold medal in MMA at the SEA Games was firmly in their grasp.
This convincing victory not only brought the 6th gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games, but also the first gold medal for Vietnamese MMA in the history of the SEA Games.
Quang Van Minh is considered one of Vietnam's MMA hopes in the regional arena. Fans expect fighter Tran Ngoc Luong to continue his success in the third final, taking place a few minutes later in the modern 60kg weight class.
