Transit goods, people and vehicles through Nam Giang International Border Gate increased sharply in the first quarter of 2024.

However, the Border Gate Management Board said that import-export turnover decreased by 52% (14.8 million USD), including: export decreased by 40% (5.2 million USD) and import decreased by 57% (9.6 million USD). Tax collection decreased by 0.04% (46.3 billion VND), the main revenue sources were electricity and sawn timber of all kinds.

Export goods mainly include temporary exports and re-imports of machinery, equipment, supplies, construction materials, and repair of hydroelectric projects in Laos, consumer goods, and groceries.

Imported goods include re-imported machinery and equipment for hydropower construction projects in Laos. Transit goods are mainly cassava starch and Lao bauxite aluminum ore transited through Vietnam to Da Nang port, Chan May port and THACO port to China.
