Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thi Minh Loan – Head of Logistics Department, Immigration Department, said that from August 15, 2023 to the present, at Da Nang International Airport, the Department has put into operation 4 automatic immigration control gates (Autogate) and 2 registration counters. During the operation process, the Department has coordinated with the contractor to adjust, fix and upgrade the system to better meet the needs of immigration inspection and control.
The Autogate immigration system at Da Nang International Airport has been officially handed over and put into operation.
According to Mr. Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of AHT Company, Autogate technology is an optimal solution for streamlining immigration procedures. This is one of the important steps in the airport modernization strategy, aiming towards a smart airport terminal model, helping to optimize airline check-in procedures, minimize waiting times, and enhance passenger experience.
This system will help shorten the immigration and customs clearance time at Da Nang International Airport for passengers; reduce the burden on control personnel through a fully automated process; and enhance safety and security with an advanced biometric identification system. At the same time, it will optimize the flow of international passengers, ensuring accuracy and safety in the control process.
According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism , the city's tourism industry has long awaited the official launch of the Autogate system at Da Nang International Airport. This is one of the important standards for Skytrax 5-star international terminals. It is also one of the criteria for Da Nang International Terminal 2 to maintain its current and future 5-star rating.
Mr. Do Trong Hau stated that in 2024, AHT collaborated with FPT Software to implement an intelligent monitoring and operation system, integrating real-time data. Notable technologies implemented include self-check-in kiosks and self-bag-drop systems, allowing passengers to proactively manage their luggage and save time.
Automated boarding gates minimize staff intervention; AI-powered camera systems monitor passenger density, providing data to operations for efficient passenger flow management; and video call kiosks and multilingual information screens assist passengers in easily finding information.
"In particular, with the sponsorship of the Autogate system for the Immigration Department on March 20th, Da Nang International Airport has become the first airport in Vietnam to complete 100% automation from check-in to baggage drop-off, immigration procedures, and boarding gates," said Mr. Do Trong Hau.
