Notably, the two athletes assigned to hold the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the opening ceremony of this Congress are Le Thanh Thuy (volleyball) and Le Minh Thuan (karate) - outstanding faces not only in terms of expertise but also in terms of ethics and lifestyle and competition.
Le Thanh Thuy is a member of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team and Le Minh Thuan is the captain of the Vietnamese karate team. These are two players with good ethics, lifestyle and professional performance.
In her career, Le Thanh Thuy has participated in the SEA Games from 2015 to present. She won the Silver Medal (HCB) with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at the SEA Games in 2015, 2019, 2021, 2023. Two years ago, Thanh Thuy and her teammates participated in the final at the 32nd SEA Games-2023 in Cambodia and won the Silver Medal. In addition, Thanh Thuy won the AVC Nations Cup 2025, was runner-up at the VTV Cup 2025, was runner-up at the first stage of the SEA V.League 2025, was champion at the second stage of the SEA V.League 2025 and participated in the 2025 World Championship.
As for Le Minh Thuan, his karate career has many remarkable achievements. He won the Gold Medal at the 29th SEA Games in 2017. The coaching staff assessed that Le Minh Thuan is a highly skilled martial artist and an exemplary senior in the Vietnam karate team, setting an example for young athletes to follow.
This is the first time that blocker Le Thanh Thuy and karate fighter Le Minh Thuan have been assigned the responsibility of holding the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation to the 33rd SEA Games 2025 was established with 1,165 members.
Two years ago, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang was honored to be chosen as the flag bearer for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 32nd SEA Games 2023 Opening Ceremony in Cambodia. A year earlier, Nguyen Huy Hoang was also the flag bearer for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 31st SEA Games Opening Ceremony held at My Dinh National Stadium in 2022.
Currently, Le Thanh Thuy and Le Minh Thuan are in Vietnam training with the national team in preparation for the competition. Each player has a performance goal of winning a medal in Thailand this year.
It is expected that on December 7, Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, along with Deputy Heads of Delegation and officials, medical department and some national sports teams will go to Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games - 2025. The 33rd SEA Games - 2025 will open on December 9 in Bangkok (Thailand).
