SEA Games 33 holds many surprises.
The swimming qualifying rounds began at 9:00 AM with the participation of Vietnamese swimmers in the women's 100m freestyle (Pham Thi Van, Nguyen Thuy Hien), men's 400m individual medley (Tran Hung Nguyen, Nguyen Quang Thuan), men's 1500m freestyle (Nguyen Huy Hoang, Mai Tran Tuan Anh), and women's 400m freestyle (Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi). Nguyen Huy Hoang and Tran Hung Nguyen are expected to maintain their form from the SEA Games 33 and shine in the finals, which will take place from 6:00 PM.

In athletics, Le Ngoc Phuc and Ta Ngoc Tuong will compete in the men's 400m qualifying round at 9:50 AM. The highlight of the afternoon will be Vu Duc Anh competing in the men's high jump final (4:40 PM), Kim Thi Huyen in the women's shot put final (4:50 PM), Hoang Thi Minh Hanh and Nguyen Thi Ngoc in the women's 400m final (5:45 PM), and Bui Thi Nguyen and Huynh Thi My Tien in the qualifying and final rounds of the women's 100m hurdles (6:15 PM). Vietnamese athletics is expected to win gold medals in both the women's 400m and 100m hurdles.

In rowing, Nguyen Thi Huong and Ma Thi Thuy will compete in the women's 200m double canoeing qualifying round; if they advance, they will compete in the final at 2 PM. The men's 200m quadruple canoeing event will feature Duong Van Ngoi, Bui Huu Tich, Hien Nam, and Tran Thanh. In the men's 200m quadruple kayak event, the Vietnamese representatives are Huynh Cao Minh, Nguyen Hoang Duy, Tran Van Danh, and Nguyen Minh Tuan.
In gymnastics, Dinh Phuong Thanh will compete in the finals of two events, horizontal bar and parallel bars, starting at 2:30 PM, and is expected to win both gold medals. Tran Doan Quynh Nam will also compete in the women's final.

The judo finals, starting at 1 PM, feature Nguyen Hoang Thanh (55 kg), Nguyen Hai Ba (73 kg), Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (57 kg), and Le Huynh Tuong Vi (70 kg). These are all judo weight categories where Vietnam is expected to achieve the highest results.
Jujitsu finals starting at 9 AM promise to bring home many medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation. The Vietnamese jujitsu team is competing in the finals of the following weight categories: 62 kg (Dao Hong Son, Can Van Thang), 77 kg (Nguyen Tat Loc, Nguyen Cat Tung), 63 kg (Ngo Thi Thao Van, Vu Thi Anh Thu), show mix (Trinh Ke Duong/Nguyen Ngoc Bich), and duo mix (Phung Thi Hong Ngoc/To Dang Minh).
The karate qualifying rounds begin at 9:00 AM with the participation of Chu Van Duc (55 kg men), Nguyen Thi Thu (50 kg women), Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly (55 kg women), and Khuat Hai Nam (67 kg women). If they advance from the qualifying rounds, the Vietnamese martial artists will compete in the finals starting at 1:00 PM.
In shooting, Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Nguyen Tam Quang will compete in the 10m mixed doubles air rifle qualifying round at 9:30 AM; if they qualify for the final, they will compete at 11:00 AM. Mai Tuan Anh and Tran Khac Dang will participate in the clay pigeon shooting event starting at 9:00 AM.
