Simacai launched a campaign to care for and improve temperate fruit trees.

Before the launching ceremony, leaders, cadres and people of Simacai district observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Participating in the launch were representatives of a number of agencies and units under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders and representatives of a number of agencies and units of Si Ma Cai district; representatives of Lao Cai Urban Environment Joint Stock Company; representatives of the People's Committee of the commune, agricultural extension officers, and farmers of communes in Si Ma Cai district.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Simacai district, up to now, the whole district has nearly 1,500 hectares of temperate fruit trees (Ta Van plum and VH6 pear), of which over 600 hectares have yielded fruit. The average production value from Ta Van plum production is 120 million VND/ha/year; VH6 pear is nearly 200 million VND/ha/year.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Si Ma Cai district, said: After the district-level launching ceremony in Lung Than commune, localities in Si Ma Cai district will simultaneously organize a campaign to care for and improve the entire area to increase the value of temperate fruit trees, aiming for green and sustainable production.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, engineers and technical staff from the Lao Cai Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management, the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, the Agricultural and Forestry Seed Center; the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; and the Agricultural Service Center of Si Ma Cai district participated in providing technical guidance on post-harvest care, fertilization, and pruning of temperate fruit trees for farmers in Lung Than commune and other communes in Si Ma Cai district.

On this occasion, Lao Cai Urban Environment Joint Stock Company donated 3 tons of organic fertilizer to farmers in Lung Than commune to implement a model of organic temperate fruit tree production ( photo above ).
