SIU Computer Science students reap huge rewards

At the 33rd Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad - Procon Vietnam and the International Student Programming Contest ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024, SIU's team overcame the challenges and brought home 3 awards in the IT category.

Specifically, students Nguyen Truong Cong Nhi (majoring in Artificial Intelligence) and Thai Ho Phu Gia (majoring in Computer Networks & Information Security) won Third Prize, student Bui Le Hong Tam (majoring in Artificial Intelligence) won the Encouragement Prize.

With the same topic "Building a chatbot to support the assessment of mental health status for students", the group of students of the school won the Encouragement Prize in the field of Information Technology at the 26th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award in 2024.

Two groups of Computer Science students continued to affirm their mettle by bringing home two Encouragement prizes at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Artificial Intelligence Challenge (AI Challenge).

In this contest, contestants use software and artificial intelligence tools built by their own teams to solve image query problems in the data warehouse provided by the Organizing Committee.

Students of the school also participated in the International Symposium on Information and Communication Technology (SOICT) with 3 scientific papers published in the conference proceedings, of which 2 were presented directly at the conference.

It is known that the SOICT conference is a prestigious event, gathering researchers, lecturers and students worldwide, opening up opportunities to exchange and learn with leading experts in the field of information technology and communications taking place from December 13 to 15, 2024 in Da Nang city.

SIU creates conditions for students to learn and improve their knowledge from leading experts in the field of technology through international seminars.

In addition, Computer Science students are also active in community activities by participating in supporting the project of surveying, collecting and updating house coordinate data in Thu Duc City.

Being part of the "Smart Neighborhood" Model Building Plan project has helped the school's students apply the knowledge and skills they have learned into practice, in line with the school's early career orientation and creative startup program.
