The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has recently issued a document outlining its functions and responsibilities in managing vocational education in Ho Chi Minh City, addressed to the heads of colleges, vocational schools, vocational training centers, vocational education and continuing education centers, and other vocational education establishments.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has announced that it has taken over the state management of vocational education from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

Regarding tasks, content, and professional operational guidelines issued by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, these will continue to be implemented according to the functions, duties, and powers of the Department of Education and Training.

These tasks, content, and guidelines will be implemented through the Department of Continuing Education, Vocational Training, and Higher Education.

Currently, in the field of vocational education, Ho Chi Minh City has approximately 380 vocational education institutions. These include 62 colleges, 60 vocational secondary schools, 77 vocational training centers, and 181 other vocational education establishments.

According to the plan for implementing Ho Chi Minh City's education development strategy from now until 2030, with a vision to 2045, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City aims for rapid development of vocational education to meet the diverse needs of the labor market, the people, and the increasingly high demands for the quantity, structure, and quality of skilled human resources for development.

Specifically, by 2025, the city aims for at least 30% of vocational education institutions and 30% of training programs in key industries and professions to meet quality accreditation standards.

At least 2 colleges and 5 training programs meet international accreditation standards; there are 4 high-quality schools; 3 schools are approaching the level of ASEAN-4 countries; 1 school is approaching the level of developed countries in the G20 group; approximately 10 key sectors and professions have outstanding competitiveness in ASEAN countries...

According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City aims to attract 40-45% of junior and senior high school graduates into the vocational education system by 2025.
