On the morning of September 14th, the Hanoi Education Sector Trade Union's concluding conference dropped its cultural performance program and instead focused on sharing and supporting the victims of the fire in Khuong Ha, Thanh Xuan district.

According to initial statistics from the authorities, one teacher and 29 students were victims of the fire on the night of September 12th at house number 37, alley 29/70, Khuong Ha street, Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district. Tragically, 10 students lost their lives. This is a great loss for the education sector of Hanoi.
This morning, as planned, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training was scheduled to hold a conference to summarize the activities of the Hanoi Education Sector Trade Union for the 2022-2023 school year and to implement tasks for the 2023-2024 school year. However, following the directive of the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the organizing committee decided to cancel the welcoming cultural performance program, despite it having been prepared.
Before the conference began, sharing their condolences for this loss, the leadership of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, along with officials and teachers from the Education Sector Trade Union, observed a minute of silence to remember the victims of the fire.
At the same time, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also launched a fundraising campaign for the victims. According to statistics as of 10:00 AM on September 14th, the amount of donations from delegates attending the conference was nearly 180 million VND.
Earlier, on the afternoon of September 13th, leaders from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, along with the Hanoi Education Sector Trade Union, the Thanh Xuan District Department of Education and Training, and the principals of several schools, directly visited, encouraged, and shared their condolences with the families of the students and teachers involved.
Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, also instructed the Thanh Xuan District Department of Education and Training and the school to continue reviewing cases of officials, teachers, staff, and students involved in this fire.
In the case of the deceased student, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has assigned the Education Sector Trade Union and directed the Thanh Xuan District Department of Education and Training and other units to visit and assist the family with funeral arrangements. For the students currently receiving treatment at the hospital and the injured teacher, the Department and other units are providing timely support, encouragement, and assistance.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has also instructed schools to assign teachers to support and mentor students who have sustained minor injuries and may experience psychological distress.
