Summary of the implementation of Project VIE085 in Ninh Binh province in 2023

On December 27, the Provincial Elderly Association's Representative Board coordinated with the International Elderly Assistance Organization in Vietnam (HAI) to organize a conference to review the implementation of the Project to Support Disadvantaged Elderly People through the Replication of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Vietnam, Phase 2, in Ninh Binh province (referred to as Project VIE085).

From October 23 to October 30, 2023, the Provincial Elderly Association Representative Board coordinated with HAI Organization and the Elderly Association Representative Boards at all levels to establish 9 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs with a total of 501 members, of which people over 60 years old accounted for 63%; members over 75 years old accounted for 9%; and people in difficult circumstances accounted for 62%.

The Clubs in the Project have carried out 7-8 activities such as: Organizing health care activities; organizing income-generating activities; organizing home care activities (based on volunteers and other Club resources) for difficult cases in need of help; organizing activities to improve spiritual life such as: culture, arts, visiting, and exchanges; organizing activities to support individuals in sudden difficulties and support the community; mobilizing resources to ensure sustainable Club development... From the support sources, 135 members of 9 Clubs have been disbursed loans with a total amount of over 900 million VND to create livelihoods, increase income, and improve life...

VIE085 is a project that is supported by the Assistance for the Aging International (HAI) in Vietnam and calls on the Assistance for the Aging Korea (HAK) to mobilize the Korea International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (KOICA) to sponsor localities. The goal of the project is to contribute to improving the quality of life of the elderly, especially increasing income and improving health. At the same time, it calls for and mobilizes support resources to continue to establish and expand the activities of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs.

Ninh Binh is one of the first 6 provinces and cities in the country to receive and implement Project VIE085. The project will be implemented for 3 years (2023-2025). The goal is to establish 9 intergenerational self-help clubs each year.
