The airstrike took place near the village of Butsikovo, on the western outskirts of Sumy. Due to the precise strike by the Russian Aerospace Forces, the ST-68 radar station was destroyed. The radar is believed to have been destroyed by a Kh-35U missile launched from a Russian Su-34 aircraft.
The Soviet-made ST-68 radar station is capable of detecting and tracking low-altitude targets. Developed in 1968, the ST-68 radar boasts very high accuracy in determining azimuth coordinates.

On the front lines, Ukrainian forces continue to face numerous difficulties as the Russian army intensifies its advance. According to the AVP, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating towards Chasov Yar, losing control of areas within the city.
Chasov Yar is considered a crucial defensive center for Ukraine, because if it falls, the Russian army could advance simultaneously in two directions - towards Konstantinovka and towards the Slavyansko-Kramatorsk region.
Ukraine has acknowledged losing a portion of the Kanal sub-district of Chasov Yar. Ukraine made strenuous efforts to retain this sub-district, but these efforts were unsuccessful.
Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in fierce fighting with Russian troops in the area of the 77th Repair Factory and Vocational School. As a result, Ukrainian forces were unable to stop the Russian advance and lost a part of the Kanal sub-district.
Ukrainian forces are under considerable pressure at Chasov Yar.
According to AVP, several sabotage groups, including foreign mercenaries, were eliminated at the reinforced concrete plant. This area is also located within the Kanal sub-district. The Russian army then continued to effectively neutralize such groups, preventing Ukrainian forces from gaining a foothold.
