This morning, June 26, more than 1.16 million candidates took the 2025 high school graduation exam - the first exam with two programs, literature materials outside of books, a record number of elective subjects and exam codes.

The exam took place in 1.5 days, the shortest in the past 10 years. Most of the students were the first generation to follow the new general education program (2018) with the core goal of developing capacity and qualities.

Students will take two compulsory subjects and two elective subjects. The first exam is Literature, which will take place this morning, starting at 7:35. The test materials will be outside the textbook, which is unprecedented.

At 6:30, the temperature in Hanoi was around 30 degrees Celsius, the weather was quite hot. At many examination sites in Hanoi such as Chu Van An Secondary School and Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Hanoi,... many candidates had been present for 30-45 minutes. This is one of 4 examination sites in Hanoi with many independent candidates taking the exam, including professional soldiers, Buddhist monks and nuns.

On both sides of the school gate, volunteers arranged chairs and drinks for parents. Along Thuy Khue Street, parents sat under the trees waiting for their children.

In Da Nang and Khanh Hoa, many parents also brought their children to the exam site very early and did not forget to hug and encourage their children to do well on the test.
