Mr. Ta Dinh Thi, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment (second from the right), along with leaders from Vietnamese and Chinese ministries and agencies, visited the T&T Group booth.

From April 24-26, 2025, the Vietnam-China-ASEAN International Energy Exhibition and Forum 2025, organized by the Vietnam Energy Association (VEA) and the China Electric Power Council (CEC), officially took place in Hanoi . At the event, T&T Group and its partner Cospowers – one of China's leading battery storage manufacturers – presented a new energy storage battery product model featuring cells utilizing high-speed Z-stacking technology. This technology not only increases energy density by volume but also ensures internal structural stability and extends cycle life, meeting the needs of large-scale energy storage.

Pioneering the application of technology in the development of green energy.

In the context of Vietnam and other countries around the world strongly developing renewable energy sources, investing in battery storage systems is essential; it contributes to ensuring national energy security and sustainable development, while also promoting and opening "new doors" for the export market of battery storage to countries with rich potential. In Vietnam, the importance and necessity of energy storage batteries have been affirmed in the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII), adjusted on April 15, 2025, which stipulates that the development of concentrated solar power must be combined with the installation of battery storage with a minimum rate of 10% of capacity and integrated within 2 hours.

As one of Vietnam's leading energy corporations, T&T Group has demonstrated a strategic approach with a long-term vision for sustainable energy development, exemplified by its collaboration in building a battery storage manufacturing plant in Vietnam – a novel and pioneering direction. Starting in 2024, T&T Group established a partnership with Cospowers to realize this goal. According to the plan, Phase 1 of the project has a capacity of approximately 2 GWh/year and is expected to be operational in 2026. Phase 2 will be implemented 2-3 years after Phase 1, contributing to raising the total capacity of the project to approximately 10 GWh/year.

The T&T Group - Cospowers joint venture also aims to launch its product in 2026 to anticipate the demand for integrated battery storage installations for renewable energy projects in the Vietnamese market, once clear regulations and legal frameworks regarding electricity prices from battery storage and installation rates are in place.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh stated: "T&T Group and Cospowers have worked together from the site selection and factory design phases to choosing the best and most suitable products for the Vietnamese market. We aim to capture 40-50% of the energy storage market share in Vietnam and look towards exporting to countries around the world in the near future."

Actively implement the ASEAN-China regional cooperation model.

The collaboration with Cospowers is a prime example of T&T Group's pioneering position in developing the green and clean energy sector in Vietnam. It also demonstrates that T&T Group is one of the very few domestic enterprises that has been actively implementing the ASEAN-China regional cooperation model. Currently, T&T Group is also working with strategic partners such as GEDI, a general contractor under China Energy Group, and equipment suppliers Goldwind and Envision.

In particular, T&T Group has proactively expanded its investments into the region, with the first step being the Savan 1 wind power project (Savanakhet province, Laos) with a capacity of 495 MW to sell electricity to Vietnam. This is considered the largest onshore wind power project the Group has invested in to date, marking its "cross-border" energy investment strategy and demonstrating T&T Group's capacity to implement large-scale projects in the international market. T&T Group also aims to complete phase 1 of the project (300 MW capacity) in 2025; and phase 2 (195 MW capacity) in 2027. In addition, T&T Group plans to expand its investment in energy projects in Laos with the goal of exporting electricity to Vietnam and other countries in the region. In the long term, businessman Do Quang Hien's company aims to connect to the power grid and export clean electricity within the ASEAN energy community.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy General Director of T&T Group, Chairwoman of T&T Energy, and Vice President of the Vietnam Energy Association, delivered a speech at the Forum.

To promote cooperation between Vietnam, China, and ASEAN within the framework of the Forum, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh also proposed specific and comprehensive solutions: regarding the legal and institutional framework for cooperation; developing regional connectivity infrastructure; strengthening cooperation in developing energy sources; enhancing dialogue and information sharing; creating favorable conditions for businesses and the private sector… Ms. Binh stated that "privatization of regional cooperation" is an effective way to quickly implement Net Zero commitments, achieve sustainable development, and clean transition.

The mark of Vietnam's leading energy developer.

T&T Group's journey is not just a story of investment in energy, but also a testament to the aspirations of a private enterprise in accompanying the country in developing sustainable energy. T&T Group aims to achieve a total power generation capacity of 16,000-20,000 MW by 2035, accounting for approximately 10% of Vietnam's power system capacity, with the majority coming from clean energy sources such as solar power, wind power, LNG power, biomass power, and green hydrogen/ammonia, towards the common goal of achieving net-zero emissions for Vietnam by 2050.

To date, T&T Group has completed the investment, construction, and operation of 10 solar and wind power projects with a total installed and grid-connected capacity of 877 MW. T&T Group is also in a joint venture with KOGAS, KOSPO, and HANWHA (South Korea) to implement the Hai Lang LNG power plant project - Phase 1 in Quang Tri province with a capacity of 1,500 MW and an investment of approximately US$2.5 billion. With the Savan 1 project (Laos) scheduled for completion at the end of 2024, T&T Group has invested in green energy projects with a cumulative total capacity of over 2,800 MW.

With a clear strategic direction, T&T Group has also identified cooperation with leading global players in the energy industry as a key factor in developing clean energy. Major partners such as KOGAS, KOSPO, HANWHA, SK Group (Korea); Erex Group, Marubeni (Japan); Cospowers and Goldwind (China)… with their strengths in finance, technology, engineering, and operation will be an extension of T&T Group's capabilities to optimize investment efficiency and realize its set goals. In particular, through this cooperation, T&T Group will move towards transferring and mastering technology and engineering; gradually promoting the localization of the equipment and service supply chain; developing related industries; and creating numerous job opportunities for local people to directly benefit from the projects.

From a pioneering enterprise in the field of clean energy investment, T&T Group is gradually shaping its role as a "game changer" in Vietnam's energy transition, as Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Tri Long, former Director of the Institute for Price and Market Research (Ministry of Finance), commented: "T&T is positioning itself as a pioneering investor, an 'architect' of Vietnam's energy transition. They see both responsibility and opportunity: responsibility for the country's green future development, and the opportunity to rise to become a leading energy group in the region."
