Young Vietnamese talent wins Gold Prize at international music competition

(Dan Tri) - Nguyen Lee Hieu (9 years old, Vietnamese origin) excellently won the Gold Prize in the Vietnam regional qualifying round of the 2025 Chicago International Music Competition.


Surpassing many talented contestants from all over the country, Nguyen Lee Hieu (9 years old, Australian nationality, Vietnamese origin) excellently won the Gold Award in the Vietnam regional qualifying round of the Chicago International Music Competition 2025 (CIMC 2025).

This achievement recognizes Lee Hieu's impressive performance in the Young Musician II category (ages 7-9), Rising Star board (candidates under 18 years old) at the 2025 Chicago International Music Competition.

The contest took place on March 15 in Hanoi and March 22 in Ho Chi Minh City, gathering many excellent candidates from all over Vietnam.

Notably, Nguyen Lee Hieu was also honored with the title of Champion Rising Star, recognizing outstanding talent in the group of contestants under 18 years old. This is a special title given to the most outstanding contestant.

The 2025 Chicago International Music Competition is divided into two categories: Rising Star (under 18 years old) and Professional (over 18 years old). The entries in the two categories include: Piano, violin, guitar, saxophone, vocals...

In each category, the Organizing Committee of the Chicago International Music Competition 2025 will award first, second, and third prizes to outstanding contestants.

The fact that Nguyen Lee Hieu, only 9 years old, won the Gold Prize and the Champion Prize in the Rising Star category in the Vietnam region is considered a rare achievement, showing his outstanding talent and potential for development in the music field.

Nguyen Lee Hieu conquered the international judges with his skillful ukulele performance, confidence and performance style that touched the hearts of the audience.

Lee Hieu's performance was highly appreciated for its combination of technical accuracy and expressive ability, demonstrating talent beyond his age.

The Chicago International Music Competition is one of the largest and most prestigious music competitions in the world , attracting thousands of young contestants from many countries each year.

The competition consists of several rounds: Preliminary, regional and international finals, with judges being renowned artists and professors from leading music academies such as Juilliard, Curtis, and Royal College of Music.

The 8th Chicago International Music Competition was held from July 16 to July 24 in Chicago, USA.

After an impressive victory in the regional round, Lee Hieu will represent Vietnam at the international finals in Chicago (USA) next July.
