Recently, “online kidnapping” has become a new emerging tactic in cyberspace. Criminals target young people who lack life skills and are vulnerable to psychological manipulation. In that context, the “Not Alone” Campaign with the message “Online Safety Together” was initiated by the Digital Trust Alliance, with the support of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education and Training. This is an activity to implement the spirit of the Hanoi Convention (United Nations Convention against Cybercrime), affirming Vietnam’s responsibility to the international community in addressing global cybersecurity issues.
Tuyen Quang has not recorded any cases of "online kidnapping", but there have been many cases across the country. For example, at the end of September, an 18-year-old male student in Hanoi was approached by a person impersonating a delivery person, who then connected via video with a person in police uniform, accusing him of being involved in money laundering. They asked him to transfer all the money in his account, forced him to maintain a Zoom connection, forbade him from contacting his family, and locked himself in a motel. Thanks to promptly informing his relatives, he was rescued by the authorities.

The police force conducted a campaign to raise awareness among students at Hung An Secondary School in Bac Quang commune about preventing and combating online fraud and safe internet usage skills.
The police force conducted a campaign to raise awareness among students at Hung An Secondary School in Bac Quang commune about preventing and combating online fraud and safe internet usage skills.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Dao Trung Dung, Head of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, Provincial Police: Students are the most vulnerable group in the online environment. The campaign's goal is to help them recognize risks, know how to protect themselves and understand that they are not alone when facing problems online.

From the beginning of October to the end of November, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention directly disseminated the campaign to nearly 6,000 students and teachers; mobilized more than 200 administrators of websites to participate in sharing about the campaign, creating a great influence on the network. Police forces at all levels organized hundreds of dissemination sessions, diversifying the forms of disseminating digital safety skills. The Department of Education and Training directed 1,141 educational institutions to deploy for more than 33,200 officials, teachers and nearly 500,000 students to watch videos, skits, and participate in discussions on cybercrime prevention skills.

The campaign not only provides knowledge but also creates an environment for students to exchange, ask questions and practice coping skills. The propaganda form is innovated such as funny videos, warnings, skits... with familiar, easy-to-understand language, suitable for the psychology of the age group.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Tram, a 6th grade student at Phan Thiet Secondary School, Minh Xuan Ward, shared: “Through the campaign, I learned many tricks such as impersonating friends, sending malicious links, etc. to know how to report to teachers and relatives when in danger. I understand that personal data is an asset that must be protected, information must not be leaked, and it must be avoided from being exploited and scammed in cyberspace.”

Ms. Le Thi Tiep, Hung Duc commune said: She has young children studying in primary and secondary school, so she is very interested in the campaign "Not alone - Together, stay safe online" because her children often use smartphones to go online, interact with friends and learn about learning knowledge. Through the campaign, she has gained more knowledge, skills to monitor and manage her children better, reminding her children to ensure safety, avoid being scammed, especially "online kidnapping".

The campaign has contributed to creating a “shield”, equipping students with knowledge and skills to proactively prevent risks, and spreading the message of online safety. Thereby, helping to limit the conditions for crime and law violations in cyberspace; creating a healthy online environment, ensuring security and order in the province.
