(QNO) - The Provincial People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch assigning the Department of Planning and Investment to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to study the content of the proposed policy to support socio-economic recovery and development in 2024 of Truong Hai Group Corporation ( THACO ); review, inspect, synthesize, advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider and propose to the Government in accordance with regulations.

According to THACO, from 2020 to now, automobile manufacturing and assembly enterprises have been severely affected by the impact of the epidemic and economic recession. In this situation, the Government and central ministries have promptly issued many breakthrough support policies, promoting recovery and helping the automobile industry overcome difficulties.

In 2023, the difficult economic situation has had a strong impact on general shopping demand, in which the automobile market has witnessed a sharp decline, with car sales in 2023 expected to decrease by 24% compared to 2022 and even lower than the pandemic period in 2020 and 2021.

Therefore, in order to have timely and practical support solutions to promote socio-economic development in 2024, THACO proposed that the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Quang Nam province consider and recommend to the Government and the Prime Minister to supplement breakthrough support policies in the Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Program in 2024 (as implemented in the period 2020 - 2023) to support businesses and people to promote domestic production and business development.

Specifically, reduce 50% of registration fees for domestically produced and assembled cars for an appropriate period of time. Extend the deadline for paying special consumption tax for domestically produced and assembled cars in 2024.

With the forecast that the socio-economic situation in 2024 will continue to be difficult, in order for new policies to truly be effective and promptly support businesses to maintain and restore production and business activities, policies need to be issued soon and applied from the first quarter of 2024.
