Thailand reduced prices on goods and services for three consecutive months to stimulate demand.

The Thai Ministry of Commerce will collaborate with over 300 manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and convenience stores to organize a large-scale promotional event offering discounts on goods and services as a New Year's gift to the public.

Mr. Wattanasak Sur-iam, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade under the Thai Ministry of Commerce, said that this discount campaign is a continuation of a previous project implemented from October 2nd to December 31st, in line with the government 's policy to reduce the cost of living for citizens.

The new discount campaign is scheduled to run from December 15, 2023 to January 15, 2024. Last October, the Thai Ministry of Commerce collaborated with 288 business operators to offer discounts on 151,676 goods and services nationwide for three months. Some products and services saw discounts of up to 87%, estimated to reduce consumer living costs by approximately 2-3 billion baht.

Mr. Wattanasak stated that this policy has helped stimulate spending and boost the economy , and expressed hope that the new discount program will also be effective.

This is one of the biggest events and covers products across all categories, from food and beverages, agricultural products, essential goods to various types of services.
