Both Vietnam and Thailand boasted national team players in their lineups, making the match very exciting. However, the home team showed more composure in crucial moments.
The Vietnam People's Army volleyball team entered the first set confidently. Setter Dinh Van Duy performed excellently, setting up hitters like Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Tran Duy Tuyen to easily score points. At one point, Vietnam led by as much as 6 points, but their opponents refused to give up, narrowing the score to 20-21. Vietnam's resilience prevailed at the right moment, securing a 25-23 victory.

In the second set, both sides vied for every point. The Vietnamese team consistently maintained a lead of 2 to 3 points. But towards the end of the set, Chaiwat Thungkham and Napadet Bhinijdee played exceptionally well, helping Thailand equalize the score at 20-20. Thailand then won the set 26-24.
In the third set, the Vietnamese team played more cautiously. Coach Tran Dinh Tien instructed his players to remain alert in defensive situations and carefully accumulate points during attacks. Pham Van Hiep and his teammates won this set 25-18.
In set 4, the Thai team staged a strong comeback when pushed into a corner. At one point, they led 17-11. However, the Vietnamese team regrouped to equalize the score before winning 25-22.
The Vietnam People's Army volleyball team won the final match 3-1, securing the championship title at the 2023 ASEAN Military Volleyball Tournament. The team achieved a perfect record, winning all four matches from the start of the tournament against Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The Vietnam People's Army volleyball team includes seven players from the Border Guard Club: outside hitters Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Tran Minh Duc, middle blockers Tran Duy Tuyen and Dao Duy Thanh, opposite hitter Pham Van Hiep, setter Dinh Van Duy, and libero Vu Anh Tuan.
