Artist couple Thanh Dien and Thanh Kim Hue
People's Artist Thanh Dien shared his heartfelt thoughts in a new video recently uploaded to the YouTube channel "Memories of People's Artist Thanh Dien - Thanh Kim Hue".
Since the passing of artist Thanh Kim Hue, Thanh Dien has created a separate YouTube channel as a way to preserve memories and share his undying love for his life partner.
Love lasts forever.
At the beginning of the video, Thanh Dien shared a drawing of Thanh Kim Hue by Hong Loan, their daughter, with the caption: "Mom! My drawing is bad, please don't laugh at me!". The drawing depicts the moment Thanh Kim Hue was awarded a gold medal while performing in the Saigon 1 Youth Group.
"My daughter was only 4 years old at the time, barely able to read, standing silently backstage, clutching a folded piece of paper with a drawing of her mother with short, doll-like hair, wearing a beautiful dress and necklace, receiving an award. For 35 years, Hue has kept this drawing like a treasure. And now, I'm keeping it for the rest of my life, as a witness to our success," Thanh Dien confided.
Thanh Kim Huệ and Thanh Điền are one of the most famous and long-standing artistic couples in the cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) theater.
They have lived and performed together for over 40 years, experiencing many ups and downs, but always maintaining sweetness and respect in their relationship.
His continued mention of her is a way of preserving memories and passing on love to the audience, who have always loved this artistic couple.
"Caught between two opposing viewpoints, I struggled a lot to make this video. But in the end, I still chose to mention Thanh Kim Hue because I know the audience loves me, loves Hue, and wants to see Hue still by my side. So please understand me."
"Throughout my life, I will always remember her petite figure, her charming smile, her love for traditional Vietnamese folk songs, and how she never walked more than five steps behind me because Hue was so quick that she could always walk ahead of me," Thanh Dien shared emotionally.

For Thanh Dien, memories of artist Thanh Kim Hue are not just about the stage, but also about everyday things: meals, birthdays, favorite foods, quiet yet loving care.
"For all these years, Hue has always organized my birthday celebrations. Sometimes we go to a restaurant, a small but cozy place. Hue takes the whole family to a buffet because she knows I like stir-fried snails with coconut milk, crab, etc., so every birthday she takes the whole family out to eat."
Hue also instructed her children: "Today is Dad's birthday, so we're having these kinds of dishes. Whoever can eat them, eat them; even if you can't, you still have to come and have fun." So the whole family went, and it was so joyful, heartwarming, and touching.
"I can never forget that image. Every year, we celebrated my birthday in different places, sometimes a big party, sometimes a small one. But no matter where it was held, I could always feel Thanh Kim Hue's affection for me," Thanh Dien recalled, his eyes welling up with tears.

Images of artist Thanh Kim Hue in her youth, with her petite figure and quick gait, were shared by Thanh Dien on his YouTube channel.
Family photos never fade from Thanh Dien's memory. He always enjoys capturing moments with his wife and children to cherish forever in his heart.
"This year, I'm celebrating my 81st birthday, but two people are missing: my wife and my daughter, Nguyen Duc Hong Loan. They both left me, so this birthday holds a special place of sadness and longing for me. I wanted to celebrate this birthday to remember past birthdays with all my family members present," Thanh Dien said slowly, his voice choked with emotion.

This is a portrait of Hong Loan's mother, Thanh Dien and Thanh Kim Hue's daughter, when she was only 4 years old.
