Thanh Hoa province has issued a document instructing the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district, the Department of Transport, and the Department of Finance to investigate and verify the content of a VietNamNet report regarding a dilapidated suspension bridge in Lang Chanh district, where many people are seen pushing their motorbikes across for fear of falling into the river.

The official document states that the Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Mai Xuan Liem, has directed relevant units, based on their assigned functions and duties, to promptly investigate, verify, and clarify the content reflected in the VietNamNet report in order to take timely action and report the results before December 26th.

As previously reported, the Ben Lam suspension bridge, spanning the Am River and connecting Giao An and Giao Thien communes (Lang Chanh district, Thanh Hoa province), was built in 2008. This cable-stayed bridge, with an iron frame and wooden deck, is over 100 meters long and 2.2 meters wide.

Currently, the bridge is severely dilapidated; the wooden decking is rotting; the pillars, guardrails, and bracing are damaged… causing the bridge surface to vibrate strongly when people and vehicles pass over it, posing a potential safety risk.
