This also marks the seventh overseas stint in Thanh Thúy's career, a player who has consistently been considered the driving force behind the recent resurgence of Vietnamese women's volleyball.

She signed a contract with Gunma Green Wings before the 2025 World Championships, which concluded last week. And right after the world championships, Thanh Thúy flew to Japan to join her new club.

Gunma Green Wings played a friendly match against Victoria Himeji to prepare for the new season. They ultimately lost 1-2.

However, Thanh Thúy was the winner of this match, as she was only used in the second game - which Gunma Green Wings also won. It is known that Thanh Thúy scored 8 points in this game.

Gunma Green Wings used Indonesian player Olivia Rozanski in the first set, before replacing her with Thanh Thúy in the second set. In the third set, they used only local players.

This impressive performance means a great deal to Thanh Thúy, promising her a spot in the official competition for the new season.

Gunma Green Wings is a team playing in the SV.League, hailing from Maebashi City in Gunma Prefecture. They were promoted to Japan's top league in 2023.

This is the seventh foreign club Thanh Thúy has played for in her career. In 2015, the girl from Binh Duong province first went abroad to play football for Bangkok Glass in Thailand.

Following that, she went on to play for Attack Line VC (Taiwan), Denso Airybees (Japan), PFU BlueCats (Japan), Kuzeyboru (Türkiye), and then Gresik (Indonesia).

In her seventh overseas appearance, Thanh Thúy's performance was considered to be below par. She played quite well in the first two matches of the World Championships (against Poland and Germany), but then faded against Kenya in the final match.

At 28 years old, Thanh Thúy doesn't have much time left to shine. Therefore, fans are hoping that the "golden girl" of Vietnamese volleyball can once again shine brightly abroad.
