TP - In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province will implement and complete a series of key projects worth trillions of VND to alleviate traffic bottlenecks, change the appearance of the area, contribute to improving the quality of life for people, and promote socio-economic development of localities and regions.

The Dong Van Cong road expansion project, part of the plan to reduce traffic congestion in the Cat Lai port area (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), was completed just before the Lunar New Year 2024, as planned.

According to observations by reporters on February 20th, after completion, traffic on Dong Van Cong road - the gateway to Cat Lai port - has become smoother. In addition, after the widening of Dong Van Cong road, My Thuy 3 bridge at the My Thuy intersection has also been connected, contributing to reducing traffic pressure at this "hot spot".

Representatives from the Department of Transportation stated that the My Thuy intersection and Tan Son Nhat International Airport are two of the most congested areas, and projects are being implemented and are expected to be completed in 2024 to serve the city's residents. At Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City is urgently implementing a project to build a connecting road between Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa streets (Tan Binh district), linking to Terminal 3, which is also under construction to alleviate the airport's overcrowding.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City is also implementing the construction of an underpass to alleviate traffic congestion at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (District 7), which is equally "hot". Director of the Transportation Department, Luong Minh Phuc, stated that this year, two construction packages will be implemented simultaneously, aiming for the opening of the HC2 tunnel branch by June 30th and the HC1 tunnel branch, along with the entire project, by December 31st.

“In 2024, five key transportation projects of the city (including: construction of Ring Road 3, An Phu intersection, upgrading and expanding National Highway 50, the underpass at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection, and Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa road) will move to a new phase. This involves the simultaneous construction of all construction packages, accelerating disbursement to ensure early completion and commissioning for the people,” Mr. Phuc said.

According to the Department of Transport, in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will commence construction on 29 packages and projects with a total investment of over 17,500 billion VND.

According to observations by reporters on February 20th, key transportation projects in Binh Duong have resumed construction after the Lunar New Year holiday. Mr. Tran Hung Viet, Director of the Binh Duong Transportation Department, stated that the province will enter a peak construction period in 2024. Several projects will accelerate their progress to ensure completion. To guarantee timely completion, relevant agencies will closely monitor the projects throughout 2024, conducting weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress checks.

In 2024, two major transportation projects with substantial investment capital will commence. The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project in Binh Duong province is expected to start construction around the April 30th holiday. The total investment for this project is approximately VND 18,247 billion, with completion scheduled for the end of 2026. The 47.85km long project will pass through Bac Tan Uyen district, Tan Uyen city, Thu Dau Mot city, and Ben Cat town. Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City-Chon Thanh expressway project, the section through Binh Duong province, over 45.6km long, is expected to start construction around the September 2nd holiday with a total investment of approximately VND 17,408 billion. This project plays a crucial role in connecting the Central Highlands and the Southeast region.
